Ukraine says it has carried out another series of long-range military strikes aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to finance its war, targeting key oil infrastructure and maritime assets deep inside Russian territory.
Oil Refineries Hit Far From the Front Line
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the latest operations struck energy facilities located hundreds of kilometers from Ukraine’s borders.
Among the reported targets was the Bashneft-Novoil oil refinery in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, more than 1,300 kilometers from the active front line.
Ukraine also reported a strike on the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, approximately 700 kilometers from Ukrainian territory.
Kyiv has increasingly focused on long-range attacks against Russia’s energy sector, arguing that oil revenues help fund Moscow’s military campaign.
Black Sea Operations Also Reported
In addition to the strikes on energy infrastructure, Ukraine said its forces successfully targeted Russian maritime assets operating in the Black Sea.
The reported operation included attacks on two military patrol boats as well as vessels described by Ukraine as part of Russia’s “shadow fleet,” a network of ships that Western governments say has been used to transport Russian oil while circumventing international sanctions.
Kyiv Links Military Operations to Economic Pressure
Zelenskyy said the latest attacks are intended to reinforce international sanctions by reducing Russia’s oil income, which Ukraine argues is used to finance military operations against the country.
He praised members of Ukraine’s Defense Forces for expanding the nation’s long-range strike capabilities, saying such operations increase pressure on Moscow both militarily and economically.
Ukraine Calls on Russia to Pursue Peace
The Ukrainian president concluded by thanking the country’s military personnel for their continued efforts and said sustained pressure could improve the prospects for diplomacy.
“Russia must choose peace,” Zelenskyy said, framing the latest strikes as part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to compel Moscow to end the conflict.
