Former President Donald Trump is set to take a unique turn in his media campaign by appearing on WWE legend The Undertaker’s podcast, “Six Feet Under.”
As Trump ramps up his media presence ahead of the upcoming presidential election, his latest move seems aimed at winning over the wrestling community.
The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, is expected to grill Trump on the podcast this week, a detail first reported by Politico’s Alex Isenstadt via @WrestleOps.
Strengthening Ties with the WWE
Trump, now 78, has had a longstanding relationship with WWE, and this podcast appearance is not his first venture into the world of professional wrestling.
He was involved in one of WWE’s most iconic storylines at WrestleMania 23 in 2007, where he faced off against Vince McMahon in the famous “Battle of the Billionaires.”
The result of the match saw McMahon getting his head shaved, an unforgettable moment for wrestling fans.
Beyond the ring, Trump also maintained close ties with WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, and wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan even publicly endorsed him at the Republican National Convention earlier this year.
Not All Wrestlers Are Fans
However, Trump’s connection to the wrestling world isn’t without controversy.
Former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista took the opportunity to mock Trump on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Bautista questioned Trump’s “tough guy” image and humorously pointed out his flaws, from wearing too much makeup to his fear of birds.
Bautista even threw in a few jabs at Trump’s draft-dodging past and made fun of his golf habits.
Comedy with a Serious Undertone
While the skit earned plenty of laughs, it also highlighted a more serious issue.
Trump’s image as a “macho” figure resonates with certain groups of voters, particularly men.
But the erosion of his support among women, especially in an election where Kamala Harris is leading in that demographic, could be pivotal.
Harris, meanwhile, is making abortion rights a key part of her campaign, giving her a growing advantage among female voters.
Election Battle Heats Up
As the election nears, Trump continues to lean into his tough-guy persona, touting his military achievements and calling out his rivals as weak.
His rallies often feature James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” and his campaign strategy seems focused on maintaining a lead among male voters, where recent polls show him ahead by 10 points.
On the other hand, Harris is concentrating on building momentum among women, a crucial demographic that may tip the scales in her favor.
The next few weeks will reveal whether Trump’s bid to reconnect with the wrestling community and project strength will pay off as he faces off against Harris in the race for the White House.
