Sofinnova Partners, a venture capital firm with offices in Paris, London, and Milan, has entered a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services AWS aimed at deepening the use of artificial intelligence across its investment operations and portfolio companies.
The partnership is designed to strengthen how the firm identifies, evaluates, and supports startups in the life sciences sector, particularly those working across biotech, medtech, digital health, and sustainability-focused technologies.
Startups to Gain Access to Enhanced AWS Infrastructure and Tools
As part of the agreement, companies backed by Sofinnova will receive tailored AWS resources and technical support intended to speed up the path from early-stage research to commercial deployment.
This includes expanded access to cloud infrastructure and specialized enablement programs that are expected to help founders streamline development workflows, manage complex scientific datasets, and accelerate regulatory and clinical processes.
By integrating these tools, the collaboration aims to reduce friction in the innovation pipeline, allowing startups to focus more on scientific discovery and less on infrastructure constraints.
Sofinnova.AI Initiative Moves to the Center of Investment Strategy
The partnership also strengthens Sofinnova’s broader digital transformation agenda under its Sofinnova.AI program.
Sofinnova.AI is being positioned as a core internal system that embeds artificial intelligence into nearly every stage of the firm’s activity, from sourcing new deals to conducting investment analysis and supporting portfolio companies after funding.
The system is designed to improve decision-making speed and accuracy by combining structured data, internal research, and external market intelligence into a unified analytical framework.
“Sofia” Platform to Be Expanded for Founders
A key outcome of the collaboration is the development of a founder-facing version of the firm’s proprietary AI platform, known as Sofia.
Originally built for internal use, Sofia integrates scientific and clinical analysis tools with market mapping and pitch evaluation capabilities.
It is powered by more than five decades of proprietary investment data, continuously updated through the firm’s ongoing deal activity.
Until now, the platform has primarily supported internal teams in assessing deal flow and generating insights across multiple healthcare-related sectors.
New Tools Aim to Strengthen Decision-Making for Life Sciences Founders
Under the expanded rollout, founders will gain access to AI-driven features such as competitive landscape analysis, asset benchmarking, and insights into partnership and licensing opportunities.
The goal is to give early-stage companies more structured intelligence as they navigate complex development pathways, helping them identify opportunities, compare positioning, and connect more effectively with potential collaborators and investors.
By extending Sofia beyond internal use, Sofinnova and AWS are positioning the platform as a shared intelligence layer between investors and entrepreneurs, intended to accelerate innovation across the life sciences ecosystem.
