Orlando Pirates have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Norwegian striker Sebastian Pedersen, a forward whose impressive scoring record has raised expectations ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
The Soweto giants confirmed the deal as they continue reshaping their squad under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

The Buccaneers officially announced Pedersen’s signing from Norwegian club Sogndal Fotball, adding another international player to their squad before the new campaign begins.
The 27-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract, while the club also retains the option of extending his stay for an additional season.
His arrival comes after an impressive spell in Norway, where he netted 51 goals in 117 appearances for Moss FK and Sogndal, establishing himself as one of the country’s reliable finishers.
His signing also marks Orlando Pirates’ eighth addition during an active transfer window.
Where the New Striker Fits Into Ouaddou’s Plans
Based on the team’s pre-season performances in Spain, Pedersen is expected to step straight into the starting lineup as the club’s leading striker.
Ouaddou consistently fielded a preferred eleven during the five friendly matches, suggesting the Norwegian could spearhead an attack featuring Patrick Maswanganyi in the creative midfield role, while Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi provide width on the flanks.
Behind them, Thalente Mbatha and Sihle Nduli are expected to anchor midfield, with captain Nkosinathi Sibisi leading the defense alongside Lebone Seema.

Born in Hamar, Norway, Pedersen began his football journey through HamKam’s youth ranks before joining Stabæk as a teenager.
While continuing his education at the Norwegian College of Elite Sport, he broke into senior football and made his top-flight debut at just 17 years old.
Shortly afterward, he scored his first professional goal against Lillestrøm, signaling the start of a promising career.
He later gained experience with Strømsgodset, Strømmen and Notodden before discovering his best form with Moss FK and Sogndal.
Consistent Goal Scoring Opened the Door to Pirates
Pedersen’s reputation grew significantly between 2021 and 2026, when he registered 51 goals and eight assists across 117 matches for Moss FK and Sogndal.
His strong form continued during the 2026 Norwegian First Division season, where he scored eight goals in just 14 league appearances before attracting interest from Orlando Pirates.
The striker also represented Norway at every youth international level from Under-15 through Under-21, highlighting the pedigree he brings to South African football.

The defending champions begin their title defense on Saturday, August 1, when they welcome newly promoted Milford FC to Orlando Stadium.
