Milan Fashion Week Opens With Major Prada Presentation
Prada helped launch Milan Fashion Week on Tuesday after the international fashion calendar moved on from New York and London.
Diesel was also among the brands presenting on the opening day, while the Vogue World event was scheduled for Milan’s historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
The packed programme continues on Wednesday with presentations from names including Jil Sander, Daniela Gregis, Antonio Marras, Fendi, Vivetta, Missoni, MM6 Maison Margiela and Etro.
Max Mara, Gucci and Moschino Among Major Shows Ahead
Thursday’s schedule begins with Max Mara before collections from Genny, Anteprima, Marni, Alberta Ferretti and Roberto Cavalli.
Friday brings another major group of fashion houses, including Tod’s, Sportmax, Blumarine, Elisabetta Franchi, Luisa Spagnoli and The Attico.
Gucci and Moschino are also among the brands scheduled to present during the week.
Heading into the weekend, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta and Philipp Plein will take their turns before the Milan programme moves toward its Sunday finale, which includes Marques’Almeida and Giorgio Armani.
Versace, Emporio Armani and BOSS Missing From Schedule
Several major names are notably absent from this year’s regular runway schedule, including Versace, Emporio Armani and BOSS.
Pieter Mulier is expected to unveil his first Versace collection in 2027.
Fashion followers will also have to wait until next year for their first look at Dario Vitale’s Emporio Armani, while the Spring 2027 Emporio Armani collection is set to be presented through a presentation rather than the brand’s traditional runway format.
Uma Thurman Recently Revealed She Nearly Abandoned Acting
Thurman’s Fashion Week appearance comes after the actress recently reflected on a very different period of her career, revealing that she once considered leaving acting before landing her breakthrough role in Pulp Fiction.
Speaking during an appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Thurman discussed growing up with dyslexia and said she was not reading until she was around eight or nine years old.
Coming from what she described as an academic family, acting eventually became an outlet that helped her overcome some of her shyness and gave her hope about her future.
Difficult Hollywood Experience Nearly Changed Thurman’s Career
Thurman said a troubling previous professional experience had caused her to lose confidence in acting before Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction arrived.
She described the earlier episode as a “typical icky Hollywood experience” and said she had been seriously considering quitting.
Her experience making Pulp Fiction ultimately changed that trajectory.
After seeing what she considered genuine filmmaking and cinema during the production, Thurman said she realised she wanted to continue acting.
The 1994 film, in which she played Mia Wallace alongside John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, went on to become the defining breakthrough of her career.
Thurman Says Nervousness Followed Her Through Hollywood Career
Despite her subsequent success, Thurman admitted she continued expecting her career to disappear.
She said she often believed “the gig would be up” and that she would eventually be pushed back out of the industry.
For years, the actress viewed nervousness as something that gave her an edge professionally.
Now, decades after the role that convinced her not to abandon Hollywood, Thurman says she is beginning to challenge that belief and feels she ultimately navigated the pressures of her career relatively well.
