Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump as military exchanges between American and Iranian forces continued on Saturday.
In a statement, Khamenei accused the United States of repeatedly violating a memorandum of understanding and argued that Washington could not be trusted to honor its commitments.
Iranian Leader Questions U.S. Reliability
Khamenei said the alleged breaches demonstrated what he described as the unreliability of the U.S. president’s commitments.
He further accused the United States of pursuing policies rooted in domination and aggression, asserting that such behavior reflected longstanding characteristics of American foreign policy.
Warning Issued Over Continued Military Escalation
The Iranian leader also warned that any further escalation initiated by the United States would bring greater costs and consequences.
Khamenei said Iran and what he referred to as the “Axis of Resistance” were prepared to respond, adding that recent events had already shown examples of their capabilities.
Remarks Come as Hostilities Persist
The comments were made while U.S. and Iranian forces continued exchanging strikes, extending the latest phase of military confrontation between the two countries.
The situation remains fluid, with tensions continuing to rise as both sides maintain military operations and exchange increasingly confrontational rhetoric.
Conflict Remains Under Close Watch
The latest statement underscores the growing diplomatic and military tensions between Tehran and Washington amid the ongoing conflict.
Officials from both countries have continued issuing public statements as developments unfold, while the broader regional security situation remains under close international scrutiny.
