Republican strategist Scott Jennings revealed that he held a nearly 20-minute phone conversation with McConnell on Tuesday.
According to Jennings, the discussion covered a broad range of topics, including tensions involving Iran, the war in Ukraine, political developments surrounding a Maine Senate candidate, his recent visit to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, and even historical moments from the U.S. Senate.
Jennings added that he wished the longtime senator a speedy recovery and expressed hope that McConnell would soon return to Capitol Hill.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune also reportedly spoke with McConnell in a separate phone call on Monday.
