Cheryl and Kelly Rowland swapped the recording studio and television set for the dancefloor on Tuesday night, enjoying a lively evening together at Via on Manchester’s famous Canal Street.
The two singers, who are currently in the city filming the latest series of The Voice UK, were captured singing, dancing and enjoying the atmosphere at the popular gay bar.
Social media footage showed Cheryl and Kelly joining in with Kelly’s 2010 solo hit Commander, turning the night into an impromptu performance.
Cheryl Steals the Spotlight in Bright Ensemble
Cheryl, 43, made a bold fashion statement for the night, wearing a fluorescent pink and green blazer paired with towering fuchsia heels.
She completed the look with a striking necklace bearing the word “Love” as she joined Kelly on the dancefloor and appeared to be fully embracing the night away from filming.
The former Girls Aloud star later took centre stage again, singing her own 2009 hit Fight For This Love as the evening continued.
Kelly Rowland Lets Loose on the Dancefloor
Kelly, 45, also dressed for the occasion, wearing a plunging PVC jumpsuit as she danced alongside her fellow The Voice UK coach.
The Destiny’s Child star appeared relaxed as the pair enjoyed the Manchester nightlife, with clips from the evening quickly circulating online.
Their night out comes as both singers prepare for the new season of the ITV singing competition.
Cheryl Returns to Primetime Television
Cheryl recently began filming the new series of The Voice UK after being announced as one of the show’s new coaches.
She was photographed arriving at the programme’s Salford studios last week for the blind auditions, where she is working alongside fellow newcomer Aitch.
Kelly Rowland and will.i.am are also returning as coaches, while Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon have been announced as the new presenters following Emma Willis’ departure from the programme.
Tom Jones Departure Sparks Tension Around New Series
The revamped coaching panel has arrived amid controversy surrounding the departure of Sir Tom Jones, who will not return as a full-time coach for the upcoming series.
Jones, 86, has publicly disputed the suggestion that he chose to leave, saying ITV made the decision and that he was only informed recently.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the veteran singer said he loved the programme and its audience but had been told that financial difficulties relating to insurance were behind the decision.
He also said ITV had discussed offering him a reduced role that would not involve him being part of the show from the beginning.
ITV Says It Still Wants Tom Jones Involved
ITV has maintained that it values its long-standing relationship with Jones and said discussions about his possible involvement in the next series remain ongoing.
An ITV spokesman said the broadcaster had “loved working with Sir Tom Jones” over his nine years on The Voice UK, while confirming that he would no longer serve as a full-time coach for series 15.
The broadcaster described the new lineup as part of a refreshed version of the programme.
will.i.am Reportedly Unhappy With Jones Exit
The changes have also reportedly created tension behind the scenes, with reports claiming returning coach will.i.am has expressed anger over the way Jones’ departure was handled.
According to reports, the atmosphere on set has been uncomfortable, with sources claiming that the usual welcome activities surrounding the start of filming have been affected by the dispute.
One source quoted by The Sun alleged that will.i.am had made his feelings known behind the scenes and suggested Cheryl had found herself caught in the middle of the situation.
The Daily Mail reported that representatives for will.i.am and ITV were contacted for comment.
Cheryl Begins New Television Chapter
Cheryl’s return to primetime television marks her first major regular television role in several years.
Her most recent primetime appearance came in 2020, when she served as a dance captain on the BBC series The Greatest Dancer.
Now, with filming underway for the latest edition of The Voice UK, she has reunited with Kelly Rowland both on the coaching panel and, judging by their Manchester night out, on the dancefloor.
