Three towers along the Maiduguri–Damaturu Transmission Line in Nigeria were destroyed by explosives, resulting in the tragic loss of an officer from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

TCN previously reported instances of vandalism on its Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132kV Transmission Line 1 and towers near Katsaita town in Yobe State, emphasizing the recurrent nature of these destructive acts.

Minister of Power’s Condemnation and Appeal

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, condemned the recent act of vandalism, citing its severe impact on the power supply to Northeastern states.

He urged Nigerians to unite against such sabotage, emphasizing the detrimental effects on the nation’s electricity provision.

Call for Investigation and Legal Action

Adelabu stressed the need for a thorough investigation into these incidents, assuring that those responsible for the vandalism would face legal consequences.

He highlighted the disruptions caused by such acts, not only in power supply but also in endangering Nigerian communities’ safety and well-being.
