…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has reached out to the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Services (NHFSS), seeking their collaboration in combating criminal activities within the state.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Edwin Osuala, conveyed this appeal during a visit by NHFSS members to his office.
Osuala emphasized the importance of not withholding any credible information that could aid in eliminating criminals and other miscreants.
Enhancing the Operational Framework with the Expertise of Hunters
Recognizing the significant role hunters play in society, Osuala expressed his intention to leverage their expertise in bolstering the operational framework of security efforts within the state.
He urged the NHFSS to actively contribute relevant information that would assist security agencies in combating all forms of criminality.
Osuala emphasized that the NSCDC is dedicated to maintaining peace and security, and called upon the NHFSS to collaborate with the Corps and other stakeholders to enhance security in the state.
NHFSS’s Auxiliary Services and the Need for Legal Backing
The Anambra State Commander of NHFSS, Titus Ogudogwo, highlighted the association’s commitment to providing auxiliary services to the country, despite awaiting the signing of the bill that would formally establish it.
Through collaborations with existing security agencies, NHFSS has been working to strengthen the internal security system.
Ogudogwo emphasized the necessity of signing the bill into law, as it would grant legal support to the association in expelling criminals from the forests.
Flushing Criminal Elements from Ungoverned Spaces
Ogudogwo emphasized that hunters are present in various hidden corners of the forests and acknowledged that criminals often seek refuge in these areas.
He expressed patience while awaiting the bill’s enactment, as it would empower the association to flush out criminal elements from the ungoverned spaces, including forests, bushes, and farmlands.
Ogudogwo commended the state commandant and the NSCDC for their unwavering dedication in restoring peace and normalcy within the state.
