Reality TV personality and businessman Mpumelelo Mseleku is preparing to expand his music journey with the release of two brand-new singles.
After making his debut as a recording artist in 2023, he is now ready to introduce fans to Baacope and Umkhunkulu, two energetic gqom songs that will headline his next music project.
New Project Inspired by His Public Image
The songs form part of an upcoming body of work titled Part Ye Jonasi.
The project’s name is inspired by the popular Netflix drama The Polygamist, where the main character, Jonasi, is widely recognized for his womanizing lifestyle.
Mpumelelo explained that the title reflects the nickname many people have given him over the years rather than serving as a statement about his personal beliefs.
Addressing the “Jonasi” Label
Speaking about the project, Mpumelelo said he has become accustomed to living under public scrutiny and refuses to let criticism discourage him.
According to him, many supporters refer to him as “Jonasi,” and he decided to embrace the nickname as a creative way to market his music.
He stressed that the upcoming release is intended purely for entertainment and fun, rather than to promote any social or cultural message.
Mpumelelo also drew a distinction between genuine polygamy and infidelity.
He argued that true polygamy is built on honesty and responsibility toward one’s family, while cheating should not be confused with the practice.
In his view, the public often misunderstands the concept, leading to comparisons with fictional characters such as Jonasi.
Life in the Public Eye
As the son of well-known polygamist Musa Mseleku, Mpumelelo has spent much of his life in the spotlight.
His romantic relationships have frequently attracted attention from viewers, including his relationship with former partner Vuyokazi Nxiweni, with whom he shares two children, as well as his relationship with Tirelo Kale, the mother of his son, and his involvement with Katlego Sekhu.
He acknowledged that growing up in a famous family has meant living under constant public attention, saying he has learned to handle the pressure.
Album Release Coincides With Reality TV Return
Fans will not have to wait long for the new music. Part Ye Jonasi is scheduled for release on August 20, the same day that season four of Izingane Zes’thembu premieres.
The reality series follows Mpumelelo’s personal life and relationships as he navigates adulthood after growing up in a polygamous household.
While keeping details about the new season under wraps, he hinted that viewers will get to see a more mature version of him, particularly in his role as a father.
Entrepreneurial Success Beyond Television
Away from music and reality television, Mpumelelo says his primary focus remains building his businesses.
He owns S’bindi Security Service and S’bindi Protech, companies involved in security, logistics, and event support services.
He emphasized that, despite assumptions from some members of the public, he does not work alongside his father.
Instead, he has built his own ventures independently, recently expanding into event services that provide equipment such as ambulances, stages, and mobile toilets.
For Mpumelelo, business remains the foundation that allows him to support his family while continuing to pursue opportunities in entertainment.
