Meghan Markle has given followers a rare glimpse into the Sussex family’s new life in Britain, with a 34-second Instagram montage revealing scenes of Prince Harry, their children and at least one of the family’s beloved dogs enjoying the English countryside.
The footage, shared by the Duchess of Sussex, captures the family settling into their new surroundings after moving from California to the Cotswolds.
Among the most closely watched moments was the appearance of Pula, the couple’s Labrador, seemingly confirming that the dog made the transatlantic journey with them.
Pula Spotted Exploring the English Countryside
Pula can be seen running along a wooded path surrounded by ferns and trees before appearing near the water as Harry, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet sit in a rowing boat.
Harry is shown preparing a fishing rod while Archie can be heard saying, “I got this” in his American accent as fish move through the water.
Other scenes show one of the children’s wellington boots splashing through a puddle, while Meghan and Harry walk hand in hand along a country lane.
Meghan then turns towards the camera and calls out, “Come on, you — come on!”
The appearance of Pula is particularly notable because there had been uncertainty over whether the Sussexes’ dogs would accompany them from California to Britain.
Mamma Mia’s Whereabouts Remain Unclear
Although Meghan’s footage confirms that Pula has joined the family in Britain, it does not establish whether their rescue beagle, Mamma Mia, has also arrived.
The couple adopted Pula following their 2018 wedding, with the dog’s name meaning “rain” in Botswana.
Mamma Mia became part of the family in 2022.
Harry and Meghan have previously spoken about how important their dogs are to their family life, making it likely that Mamma Mia may also have made the move, although Meghan has not publicly confirmed it.
Meghan’s Painful Decision Over Bogart
The arrival of Pula in Britain also brings back memories of a far more difficult decision Meghan faced when she first moved to London.
In 2017, while relocating from Toronto to Britain to begin life with Harry, Meghan left behind Bogart, her Labrador-shepherd cross.
The decision was reportedly linked to concerns that the older dog was not suitable for the overseas journey.
At the time, the couple’s communication secretary confirmed that Bogart would live with friends.
Buckingham Palace declined to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the decision, saying there were “lots of complexity” involved while confirming that Meghan remained fond of her dogs.
Guy’s Death Highlighted the Family’s Bond With Pets
Meghan’s connection with her dogs has remained a visible part of her public and private life.
Her beloved beagle Guy, whom she had owned for around a decade, died in January 2025.
Meghan subsequently shared an emotional tribute, revealing that she had shed “too many tears to count” while thanking him for years of unconditional love.
Images accompanying the tribute showed Guy cuddling with Meghan in bed, spending time with Harry and remaining close to her while she cooked.
The footage also featured moments involving Archie. In one scene, the young boy could be heard expressing concern that Guy might fall while the dog sat with him and Meghan in the back of a car driven by Harry.
Bringing a Dog to Britain Requires Extensive Preparation
Meghan previously explained that moving one of her dogs to Britain required considerable preparation.
In an interview following her engagement to Harry, she revealed that she had two rescue dogs, with one remaining with close friends and the other already in Britain.
The process for bringing a dog from the United States to the UK involves vaccinations, blood tests and microchipping, alongside specific documentation and deworming requirements.
Pet owners must also comply with strict transportation and crate regulations when making the journey.
Sussexes Settle Into Their New British Home
The latest video comes shortly after Harry and Meghan moved into their new home in the Cotswolds at the end of August.
The couple are understood to be retaining their Montecito mansion in California, while they also have a holiday property in Portugal.
Their children have already begun attending school in Britain, and the Sussexes have spoken positively about being back in the country.
The return, however, comes against the backdrop of continuing tensions between the couple and the British royal establishment.
Return to Britain Comes Amid Royal Tensions
Harry and Meghan left Britain six years ago as they sought greater personal and financial independence in the United States.
Their return has therefore attracted considerable attention, particularly because they remain outside the working royal structure.
One unresolved issue has been security arrangements for Harry and his family.
The Duke lost access to taxpayer-funded police protection when he ceased being a working royal and has challenged that decision.
Harry has reportedly sought a decision from Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood regarding security arrangements for his family.
In a BBC interview last year, he said he wanted to reconcile with his family and described the security dispute as the final major obstacle in the long-running disagreement.
Invictus Games Dispute Adds to the Tension
The family’s return has also coincided with controversy surrounding Harry’s Invictus Games.
Uganda withdrew from the event following a letter from King Charles III that reportedly emphasised that Harry and Meghan had returned to Britain as private citizens rather than working members of the Royal Family.
Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, subsequently announced the country’s withdrawal, saying he did not want the decision to be interpreted as opposition to the King.
The Sussexes were reportedly surprised by the King’s intervention amid speculation that their return might involve some form of limited or “half in, half out” royal role.
People magazine, regarded as a publication with close access to the couple, reported claims from sources close to Harry and Meghan that the Ugandan withdrawal had been directly connected to the guidance issued from the royal household.
For now, however, Meghan’s latest footage focuses on a much more personal side of the family’s return: children exploring the countryside, the couple enjoying time together and Pula apparently reclaiming his place in the Sussex family’s British life.
