Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain has been presented through a carefully curated glimpse of family life, but public relations experts believe the Sussexes’ latest Instagram display is about more than autumn walks and cosy evenings by the fire.
Meghan shared a 34-second montage showing the family enjoying the British countryside, with Union flag and heart emojis appearing throughout the post.
The footage shows Archie and Lilibet splashing through puddles, riding bicycles, fishing and spending time outdoors with the family’s Labrador, Pula.
The images offer a markedly different picture from the couple’s high-profile life in California, where they moved after stepping back as working royals six years ago.

PR consultant Mark Borkowski believes the footage was intended to communicate that Harry and Meghan are comfortable and content with their return to Britain.
The family moved back from California just over two weeks ago, while their children have already started school.
Borkowski described the Instagram post as an attempt to place the Sussexes back within a distinctly British setting, suggesting that Harry’s strongest public and commercial appeal may still lie in the UK.
He nevertheless argued that the relocation also exposes the difficulties the couple encountered while trying to establish themselves as major figures in the United States.
He characterised the Sussex brand as damaged but not beyond repair, warning that leaving California could also make it harder for them to maintain momentum in the American entertainment and media landscape.
Experts Question Their American Ambitions
Reputation specialist Eric Schiffer was even more critical of the couple’s prospects in the United States.
Speaking to Newsweek, he argued that Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave America represented a major setback to their hopes of becoming established A-list figures.
Schiffer suggested that Meghan could potentially pursue acting opportunities at a lower level, but claimed there would be considerable resistance because of waning public interest.
He also pointed towards charitable work as an area where the couple could potentially regain a sense of purpose and public goodwill.
The Sussexes’ American ambitions have included major media deals, entertainment projects and Meghan’s lifestyle brand, alongside their charitable activities.
A Very British Family Autumn
Meghan’s Instagram footage focuses almost entirely on ordinary family moments.
One child is shown jumping into a muddy puddle in wellington boots, while another scene captures Lilibet sitting beside a roaring fire with her bare feet warming against the heat.

Fishing also features in the montage, with Archie heard speaking in an American accent as he excitedly announces that he has caught something.

The family’s apparent happiness in Britain comes despite renewed tensions between the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace.
King Charles recently made clear that Harry and Meghan are private citizens and do not represent the monarchy, apparently ending speculation that their return could eventually lead to some form of limited or unofficial royal role.
The dispute has already had repercussions for Harry’s Invictus Games project.
Uganda withdrew from the upcoming Games, with General Muhoozi Kainerugaba saying the decision was intended to avoid being perceived as opposing King Charles.
People close to Harry and Meghan have claimed that the withdrawal was directly connected to the King’s message, although Buckingham Palace has not suggested that the monarch personally ordered Uganda to leave the event.
The Sussexes were reportedly surprised by the King’s letter, particularly amid speculation about whether their return could result in a “half in, half out” arrangement.
