Country music is mourning the death of Brian “Nashville” Duckworth, a West Virginia musician who died at his home on September 7 at the age of 56.
An obituary published by his family confirmed his death but did not disclose a cause.
Duckworth leaves behind his wife, six children, four grandchildren and a musical legacy closely tied to his family.
Music Was a Family Tradition
Duckworth grew up performing alongside his brother Greg and sister Wendy Williams, with music becoming a shared family tradition long before the group gained a wider following.
In 2008, the siblings formed a band called I-79 and performed at the Colgate Country Showdown.
The group later adopted the name Taylor Made and continued building a presence within the country music community.
Duckworth became particularly known for his distinctive voice and enthusiasm for performing, earning the affectionate nickname “Nashville.”
Taylor Made Found Success on the Country Scene
Taylor Made eventually developed a loyal following, with the family band releasing music that connected with country audiences.
One of its best-known songs, “Things You Don’t Grow Out Of,” reached No. 36 on the Billboard Indicator chart, marking one of the group’s notable achievements.
For Duckworth, however, performing was never simply about recognition.
His family described music as a deeply personal part of his life and said he never turned down an opportunity to sing.
He Was Also Known as the “Truck Boss”
Away from the stage, Duckworth worked a blue-collar job as a dump truck driver for Wolfe’s Excavating.
His family said he took genuine pleasure in the work, particularly because it gave him the chance to spend his days outdoors.
The role also earned him another affectionate nickname: the “Truck Boss.”
That combination of music, outdoor work and family life reflected the different sides of the man remembered by those closest to him.
Family Remained at the Centre of His Life
Duckworth was married to his wife, Tina, for nearly 16 years.
His six children are Zach, Ashton, Logan, Kayla, Michael and Matt.
He also leaves behind four grandchildren and five siblings.
His obituary described his family as his greatest source of pride, while also remembering the faithful pets that remained his constant companions.
The family said his love for his relatives, music and the outdoors would remain part of the memories held by those who knew him.
Niece Remembers Their Final Performances
Duckworth’s niece, Brianna Duckworth Kazner, paid tribute to him by sharing video from her wedding and reflecting on what could have been the final time the Taylor Made family performed together.
Kazner said she was struggling to accept that the performance may have been the group’s last.
She recalled growing up watching her father, Wendy and Brian perform at fairs and festivals before eventually getting the opportunity to join them herself.
He Became a Mentor to a Younger Songwriter
As Kazner developed her own songwriting, Duckworth became someone she relied on whenever she struggled to develop an idea.
She remembered calling him whenever she became creatively stuck, praising his ability to work with lyrics and help her find a way forward.
Kazner revealed that she and her uncle had spoken recently about a song idea he had been working on, making his death particularly difficult to process.
She said she could not count how many times they had sung together, but added that however many there were, it would never have been enough.
Duckworth’s Final Farewell
Duckworth is scheduled to be buried Monday at Floral Hills Memorial Garden.
He is remembered not only as a member of Taylor Made, but as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, songwriter and working man whose love of music was woven deeply into his family life.
