Sree Narayana Mission (SNM) Singapore has appointed former Mount Elizabeth Hospital chief executive Bernie Poh as its next chief executive officer, with the appointment taking effect on November 4, 2026.
Poh, 56, will join the organisation as CEO-designate and take responsibility for its expanding healthcare and eldercare operations.
His appointment comes as the charity prepares to increase its residential care capacity with plans for a third nursing home in 2028.
Poh Brings Two Decades of Healthcare Management Experience
Poh has held several senior positions across Singapore’s healthcare and eldercare industries.
His previous appointments include chief executive officer of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, deputy chief executive officer of Pacific Healthcare Holdings and director of Australia’s Opal Healthcare.
Between 2016 and 2025, he founded and led Allium Healthcare, a Singapore-based eldercare provider, serving as its chief executive officer.
SNM said his experience in strategic leadership, organisational development and managing complex residential care services would support its operations as demand for eldercare continues to grow.
Devendran to Leave After a Decade in the Position
Poh will succeed S. Devendran, who is scheduled to step down on December 1, 2026, after serving as SNM’s chief executive for 10 years.
The leadership change follows a succession planning exercise initiated by the charity’s executive committee and succession planning task force.
A transition period between November 4 and December 1 has been arranged to facilitate the handover and maintain continuity across the organisation’s services.
SNM Operates Two MOH-Appointed Nursing Homes
Sree Narayana Mission Singapore holds Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status and provides residential and centre-based care for elderly people and vulnerable individuals.
Its operations include two Ministry of Health (MOH)-appointed nursing homes: SNM Nursing Home@Chong Pang and SNM Nursing Home@Riverwalk.
The MOH appointments place the facilities within Singapore’s national healthcare regulatory framework and make eligible residents accessible to designated government funding schemes.
Beyond its nursing homes, SNM operates three senior care centres, two active ageing centres and Meranti Home @ Pelangi Village, a psychiatric welfare home.
SNM Highlights Leadership Priorities Ahead of Expansion
SNM President Anil Sarasijakshan said the organisation’s development under Devendran’s leadership had established a foundation for its next phase of growth.
He highlighted Poh’s experience overseeing large-scale healthcare operations as an important qualification for managing the charity’s expanding portfolio.
According to SNM, the incoming chief executive’s responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of accessible, quality eldercare services while overseeing the operational and regulatory requirements associated with its facilities.
The organisation is preparing for the opening of its third nursing home in 2028 as it continues to expand its eldercare services.
