Cyclist Fights for Days Before Tragic Death After Horror Kilkenny Crash

A cyclist who sustained critical injuries in a road traffic collision in County Kilkenny has died while receiving medical treatment, Gardaí have confirmed.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, passed away on Saturday evening, June 27, after several days in hospital following the crash.

Collision Happened on Tullaroan Road

The incident occurred at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday along the L100 Tullaroan Road in the Loughmacask area of Kilkenny.

According to Gardaí, the collision involved a cyclist and a car.

Emergency responders attended the scene before the injured cyclist was transported to St Luke’s General Hospital for urgent treatment.

Transfer to Specialist Hospital

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the man was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where medical teams continued efforts to save his life.

Despite receiving specialist care, he died on Saturday evening as a result of the injuries he suffered in the collision.

Post-Mortem Examination to Be Conducted

Gardaí said a post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days to establish further details surrounding the man’s death.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the events leading up to the fatal incident.
