Ukrainian Long-Range Strike Hit Major Russian Defense Plant in Volgograd

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine has carried out a successful long-range strike on a major Russian defense manufacturing facility in the city of Volgograd, describing the operation as another step in Kyiv’s campaign to weaken Russia’s military capabilities.

In a statement, Zelenskyy said the overnight attack targeted the Titan-Barrikady industrial complex, which Ukraine alleges is involved in producing artillery systems and specialized military equipment used by Russian forces.

President Praises Precision of Ukrainian Forces

According to Zelenskyy, the strike was carried out using FP-5 Flamingo missiles and successfully hit the intended target.

He said the attack was followed by a fire at the facility, calling it evidence that Ukrainian forces had accurately struck the site.

The Ukrainian leader thanked members of the country’s Defense Forces for what he described as their precision and professionalism during the operation.

The claims have not been independently verified, and Russian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported strike.

Kyiv Says Defense Industry Remains a Legitimate Target

Zelenskyy argued that facilities supporting Russia’s military campaign against Ukraine remain legitimate military objectives.

He said every defense enterprise contributing to Russia’s war effort is a justified target for Ukraine’s expanding long-range capabilities, which he referred to as “long-range sanctions.”

The Ukrainian president has increasingly used the phrase to describe strikes aimed at military infrastructure located deep inside Russian territory.

Ukraine Highlights Expanding Long-Range Capabilities

The president also pointed to what he described as the growing reach of Ukraine’s domestically developed strike capabilities.

He credited Ukrainian engineers, defense specialists, and military personnel with helping expand the country’s ability to carry out operations far beyond the front lines.

According to Zelenskyy, maintaining consistent military pressure on Russian defense infrastructure is an important part of Ukraine’s broader strategy.

Zelenskyy Links Military Pressure to Peace Efforts

In his remarks, Zelenskyy said sustained attacks on military-related targets would help create the conditions for what he called a “dignified peace.”

He argued that continued pressure against Russia’s defense industry weakens Moscow’s ability to continue the war while strengthening Ukraine’s position.

The president concluded his statement by expressing gratitude to those involved in developing Ukraine’s long-range weapons program and ended with the country’s national slogan, “Glory to Ukraine.”

The reported strike is the latest in a series of Ukrainian long-range operations targeting military facilities, ammunition depots, and defense production sites inside Russia as the conflict continues.
