Authorities in Canada have confirmed a significant enforcement action in Sooke, British Columbia, where dozens of illegal firearms, suppressors, and controlled substances were seized following a coordinated investigation led by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The operation, carried out on April 22 but disclosed publicly on June 16, 2026, involved multiple law enforcement units working together after intelligence pointed to suspected illegal weapons activity at a residential property.
Joint Task Force Executes Search Warrant at Residential Property
CBSA’s Criminal Investigations Section led the execution of a search warrant at the Sooke residence, supported by the Sooke RCMP Detachment, the Island District Emergency Response Team, and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.
One individual was taken into custody during the raid.
Officials confirmed that the suspect was later interviewed and released while further investigative steps continue.
The coordinated approach reflected the seriousness of the allegations, with multiple tactical and investigative units deployed to secure the scene and process evidence.
Large Cache of Firearms and Prohibited Equipment Discovered
During the search, officers uncovered a substantial collection of illegal weapons and related components.
In total, authorities seized 22 firearms, including a combination of long guns and handguns.
The inventory included 15 long guns and 7 handguns, along with 8 suppressors in varying stages of manufacture.
Investigators also discovered prohibited firearm parts, including auto sears—devices capable of converting semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic firearms by enabling multiple rounds per trigger pull.
Officials additionally reported the presence of other prohibited weapons and a bullet-proof vest among the recovered items.
Drugs and Digital Evidence Also Recovered
Beyond firearms, officers also seized controlled substances and digital devices from the property. Investigators have not yet disclosed the specific nature or quantity of the drugs recovered, as analysis remains ongoing.
The digital equipment is expected to undergo forensic examination as authorities work to determine the scope of alleged criminal activity and any possible wider network involvement.
Investigation Continues Toward Possible Prosecution
Authorities confirmed that all seized materials are now being reviewed as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
The evidence will be assessed to determine whether charges will be laid and what offences may apply under Canadian law.
CBSA officials emphasized that the case remains active, with further investigative steps underway in coordination with partner agencies.
No additional arrests have been announced at this stage, but officials say the inquiry remains open as forensic and intelligence reviews continue.
