Cambridge-based life sciences investor Vie Ventures has expanded its collaborative research network by bringing in the Food Allergy Science Initiative (FASI) as a new strategic collaborator.
The move is aimed at strengthening efforts to speed up the development of innovative therapies targeting immune-related diseases, particularly food allergies and related inflammatory conditions.
FASI Brings Deep Expertise in Allergy and Translational Science
The Food Allergy Science Initiative Food Allergy Science Initiative is an independent nonprofit research organization focused on advancing scientific understanding of food allergies.
Now part of Vie Ventures’ Strategic Collaborators network, FASI will contribute specialized knowledge in immunology, translational science, and disease modeling.
Through this role, FASI is expected to support broader efforts to identify new therapeutic opportunities and improve research approaches across immune-mediated conditions, including allergic and type 2 inflammatory diseases.
Strengthening Vie Ventures’ Investment and Scientific Strategy
Vie Ventures Vie Ventures, led by Managing Director Jeff Bluestone, PhD, integrates investment activity with scientific collaboration to support biotech companies developing treatments for autoimmune and immune system disorders.
As part of its expanded partnership model, FASI will work closely with Vie Ventures on portfolio development and investment evaluation.
Its input will help guide decisions around emerging science and early-stage biotech opportunities, particularly in areas where immune dysfunction plays a central role.
Building Cross-Disease Collaboration to Accelerate Innovation
A key goal of the partnership is to foster collaboration across multiple disease areas rather than treating conditions in isolation.
Vie Ventures’ Therapeutics Advisory Council brings together foundations, scientists, and investors to reduce development risk and accelerate the path toward new treatments.
This network already includes major health organizations such as the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, alongside other disease-focused philanthropic groups.
FASI’s addition is expected to further deepen expertise in allergic disease within this ecosystem.
FASI’s Expanding Research Footprint Across Leading Institutions
Founded in 2016, FASI has grown into a large interdisciplinary research network connecting more than 100 scientists across over 20 laboratories.
Its work spans immunology, neuroscience, gastroenterology, microbiology, and computational biology, reflecting a broad approach to understanding complex immune system disorders.
To date, the organization has supported approximately $50 million in research funding across 126 projects.
These initiatives involve leading academic and research institutions, including Harvard University, Yale University, and the Broad Institute, reinforcing FASI’s role as a major contributor to translational allergy research.
