A Chicago-based innovation firm, The Wisory, has entered into a strategic partnership with IU Ventures in a move aimed at improving how investment opportunities tied to Indiana University are evaluated.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen decision-making processes for early-stage ventures emerging from the university’s broad innovation ecosystem.
Strengthening University-Driven Investment Evaluation
At the center of the partnership is a shared goal: making investment evaluation more structured, data-driven, and efficient.
IU Ventures will now leverage The Wisory’s IntelliQ-U platform to assess startups and emerging companies connected to Indiana University.
The tool is designed to help investors understand key factors such as business readiness, growth trajectory, and execution capability.
By integrating these insights, IU Ventures aims to better identify promising companies coming out of the university’s network of students, faculty, researchers, and alumni.
Expanding The Wisory’s University Program Reach
This collaboration is also part of The Wisory’s broader University Program, which focuses on supporting university-linked venture capital groups, angel investors, and institutional funds across the United States.
Through this initiative, The Wisory provides a tailored extension of its proprietary IntelliQ platform, allowing institutions to evaluate startups using standardized frameworks.
The approach is intended to help investment teams spot high-potential companies within complex and fast-moving innovation ecosystems.
Supporting Lean Teams with Structured Insights
A key feature of the IntelliQ-U system is its ability to assist lean investment teams that often manage large volumes of opportunities across multiple industries and development stages.
Instead of relying solely on traditional due diligence methods, the platform introduces consistent evaluation frameworks.
This ensures that investors apply a repeatable process when analyzing companies, helping reduce inconsistencies and improve comparability across investment decisions.
Leadership Behind the Collaboration
The partnership is being driven in part by Jason Whitney, Managing Partner of Private Capital Practice at The Wisory, who also previously served as Chief Venture Officer at IU Ventures.
His experience across both organizations is expected to help align the platform’s capabilities with real-world investment needs.
On the IU Ventures side, leadership is provided by Tony Armstrong, President and CEO, who oversees a wide range of investment programs supporting Indiana University-affiliated startups.
These include Hoosier Angels, the IU Philanthropic Venture Fund, and the IU Angel Network.
A Broader Ecosystem of Support for Founders
Beyond direct investments, IU Ventures continues to expand its ecosystem-building efforts through initiatives such as the IU Founders and Funders Network and its annual Venture Summit.
These programs aim to connect entrepreneurs with investors, mentors, and resources needed to scale early-stage companies.
The new partnership with The Wisory adds another layer to this ecosystem, giving IU Ventures enhanced tools to evaluate and support startups as they move from concept to commercial growth.
