In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Peremobowei Tukuwei, the Media and Publicity Director of the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, lost his life in a tragic boat accident.

This unfortunate incident unfolded during a campaign visit to Okoroma in the Nembe Local Government Area, en route to Ogbia town in the Ogbia Local Government Area, on Wednesday.

The news of Perry’s demise has sent shockwaves through the political circles of Bayelsa State.

According to sources cited in Daily Independent, the ill-fated boat carried several occupants, but Perry was the sole casualty who did not survive the accident.

The incident plunged the campaign team into a state of shock and sorrow.

A vigorous search operation, conducted by marine search parties and relevant authorities, finally located Perry’s lifeless body in the late hours of Thursday.

The Chairman of the state APC, Dennis Otiotio, announced the suspension of campaign activities by the council on Thursday, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

The statement conveyed, “The Bayelsa State APC Governorship Campaign Council wish to announce the suspension of our campaigns billed to hold tomorrow 26 October 2023 at Nembe-Ogbolomabiri and Nembe-Bassambiri.

This is due to an unfortunate boat mishap during our campaigns today.

At the moment, a ranking member of staff of our Campaign Council is yet to be accounted for.

We have informed relevant authorities, and search parties are on top of the situation.”

The council decided to take a day’s break to evaluate the unfolding crisis before resuming their campaign activities.

Their heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family and friends of Peremobowei Tukuwei, and they have emphasized their commitment to continuing their campaigns in his memory.
