The River is a South African television soap opera created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon.
It’s an M-Net original produced by Tshedza Pictures for DStv’s general entertainment subscription channel 1Magic, and it’s accessible to watch on Showmax, Naspers’ subscription-based video-on-demand service.
The River is set in Pretoria and chronicles the lives of the Dlaminis and Mokoenas, two families from disparate origins who are drawn together and separated by the finding of a diamond near Cullinan, just outside of Pretoria.
