Copenhagen-based venture capital firm Seed Capital has closed its fifth investment fund with €130 million in committed capital, expanding its focus on early-stage companies across the Nordic region.

Known as Seed Capital Fund V, the new vehicle will target seed-stage startups developing businesses in financial technology, cybersecurity and resilience, as well as artificial intelligence-powered solutions for business customers.

Fund Targets 15 to 17 Nordic Startups

Seed Capital plans to invest Fund V across approximately 15 to 17 Nordic startups.

The firm is concentrating on founders building companies designed to address major challenges in financial infrastructure, digital security and the technology needs of small and medium-sized businesses and larger enterprises.

Its investment strategy is built around three core areas: reinventing financial infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity and resilience, and transforming how SMBs and enterprises operate through technology.

Institutional Investors Join Family Offices and Angels

The €130 million fund attracted capital from a combination of institutional investors, foundations, family offices and individual angel investors.

Among the limited partners are Realdania, EIFO, Dansk Vækst Kapital, Sampension, Lauritzen Fonden and Augustinus Fonden.

Their participation gives Fund V a broad investor base as Seed Capital continues to build its presence in the Nordic startup ecosystem.

First Investments Already Completed

Seed Capital has already begun deploying capital from the new fund, with several companies among its initial Fund V investments.

The portfolio includes Norlix, Blackbird Coffee, Fortiv, Moxso, Pluto Markets, Cernel, Repodo and Oplane.

The companies represent the firm’s focus on early-stage businesses operating across its targeted technology sectors.

Seed Capital Maintains Focus on Founder-Led Companies

Fund V continues Seed Capital’s strategy of partnering with founders at the seed stage, when companies are developing their products, establishing market positions and building the foundations for growth.

The firm is particularly interested in businesses using technology to modernise financial systems, improve digital security and resilience, and create new tools for SMBs and enterprises.

Copenhagen Team Leads New Fund

The new fund will be managed by Seed Capital’s investment team, including Christian Broendum, Geeta Schmidt and Lars Andersen.

Their work on Fund V will centre on identifying and supporting Nordic founders at the earliest stages of company development, with the new vehicle providing capital for a selected group of startups across its three priority areas.
