Sam Faiers appears to be following the hosepipe restrictions affecting parts of Surrey, with the grass around her £2million home turning noticeably brown during the UK’s prolonged spell of hot and dry weather.
Fresh aerial images of the former TOWIE star’s property show a scorched lawn surrounding the luxury house she shares with partner Paul Knightley and their three children.
The parched appearance stands in sharp contrast to some celebrity properties where lawns have remained remarkably green.
Sam moved from Essex to Surrey in 2020, initially renting before the family settled into their current home.
Water Restrictions Cover Sam’s Area
The reality television star’s property falls within the Affinity Water supply area, where a temporary hosepipe ban was introduced on July 17.
The restrictions prohibit residents from using hosepipes to water gardens, lawns and plants.
They also cover activities including washing cars, vans and trailers, as well as cleaning patios, paths and other outdoor surfaces.
With temperatures continuing to climb and water reserves under pressure, residents across several parts of Surrey have been urged to limit outdoor water use.
Mark Wright’s Lawn Paints a Different Picture
Sam’s former TOWIE co-star Mark Wright has attracted attention for the contrasting appearance of his own property.
The grounds of the Essex mansion he shares with wife Michelle Keegan have remained lush and vibrant despite a separate hosepipe ban introduced in the region at the beginning of August.
Mark and Michelle’s water provider, Essex and Suffolk Water, imposed the temporary restrictions following months of exceptionally dry weather and falling water reserves.
Aerial photographs show the extensive grounds surrounding the couple’s renovated mansion, which they bought for £1.3million in 2019.
Sam’s Garden Includes Football Goals
The browning lawn at Sam’s Surrey property has not stopped the family from making use of the outdoor space.
Two football goals can be seen in the garden, reflecting the family’s enthusiasm for the sport.
They are used by Paul and the couple’s son, Paul Tony, who is 10.
Sam and Paul also have two daughters, Rosie, eight, and Edward, four.
A Dramatic Summer for Britain’s Water Supplies
The hosepipe restrictions come as England experiences an exceptionally hot and dry summer.
June was the warmest on record in England, with temperatures climbing as high as 38C (100F), while July became the driest July on record after receiving only around 10 per cent of its normal rainfall.
The prolonged conditions prompted the Environment Agency to declare drought across more than two-thirds of England on August 10, including the Central and East regions.
Other Celebrity Estates Also Show the Heat
Sam is not the only celebrity whose property has provided a visible reminder of the extreme conditions.
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney appears to have allowed the grass at his 160-acre East Sussex estate to turn yellow rather than maintain it with restricted water supplies.
McCartney bought the rural property, known as Blossom Hill Farm, in 1973 and lived there with his late first wife Linda and their children.
The estate has since been expanded and includes a recording studio where he worked on his 2020 album McCartney III.
Sir Rod Stewart’s Grounds Remain Green
Elsewhere, Sir Rod Stewart’s Essex estate has presented a starkly different image.
Aerial photographs of the 81-year-old rock star’s Grade II-listed, 18th-century mansion have shown extensive green grounds despite the succession of heatwaves affecting Britain.
Stewart purchased the property for £4.65million in 2013.
The contrasting appearance of Britain’s celebrity gardens has highlighted how dramatically the country’s dry conditions are affecting outdoor spaces, with some homeowners allowing their lawns to brown while others continue to display lush green grounds despite restrictions.
