Third Mind, a newly established venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California, is seeking to raise $25 million for its inaugural investment vehicle, signaling the launch of a new fund led by veteran investor Antoine Nivard.
According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Third Mind I, LP has a $25 million fundraising target and has already secured approximately $5.7 million from investors.
Antoine Nivard Linked to the Fundraising
The SEC filing identifies Antoine Nivard as a person associated with the offering.
His involvement gives the emerging firm a leadership team with experience investing across several technology-driven sectors.
Nivard previously co-founded Blank Ventures in 2022, where he helped launch a $65 million venture fund focused on early-stage companies.
Blank Ventures Backed Early-Stage Startups
At Blank Ventures, Nivard’s investment strategy centered on seed and pre-seed companies, with the firm typically investing between $500,000 and $2 million per round.
The fund’s areas of interest included e-commerce, fintech, payments, software for small and medium-sized businesses, digital health, diagnostics, artificial intelligence and enterprise applications.
Earlier Career at Inovia Capital
Before launching Blank Ventures, Nivard was an early investor at Inovia Capital, a multi-stage venture capital firm.
During his tenure, he helped establish the firm’s presence in San Francisco and contributed to its expansion as its assets under management grew from roughly $250 million to $2.5 billion.
His investment activities at Inovia covered a broad range of technology and healthcare markets, including artificial intelligence, vertical software, fintech, infrastructure and security, as well as health and biotechnology.
A Global Investment Background
Nivard’s professional journey spans multiple markets. Originally from France, he was born and raised in Montpellier before later living and working in Montreal and Shanghai.
That international background, combined with his experience in U.S. venture capital, has shaped a career focused on identifying emerging companies across technology, financial services, healthcare and other specialized sectors.
Third Mind Begins Building Its Investment Platform
The filing marks an early public indication of Third Mind’s fundraising ambitions as the firm works toward its $25 million target.
With $5.7 million already raised, the venture firm has secured a portion of its planned capital for its first fund.
The launch places Nivard once again at the center of an early-stage investment platform, following his previous work building Blank Ventures and his earlier role helping expand Inovia Capital’s U.S. operations.
