Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has announced a “Global Week of Action for a Free Iran,” urging Iranians around the world to participate in a series of events from July 4 through July 9.
The campaign is scheduled to coincide with the Iranian government‘s planned burial of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and is intended to draw international attention to Iran’s ongoing political unrest.
Campaign Marks Six Months Since Nationwide Protests
According to Pahlavi, the initiative also commemorates six months since anti-government demonstrations began across Iran.
He described the authorities’ response to those protests as a “massacre,” saying the week of action would honor those who lost their lives during the unrest.
In a message shared on X, Pahlavi called on Iranians worldwide to unite in remembrance of what he referred to as the “Lion and Sun Revolution,” saying the campaign aims to present what he described as the true reality of conditions inside Iran.
Claims Over Protest Death Toll
Pahlavi alleged that more than 40,000 Iranians were killed by the country’s authorities within a two-day period during the crackdown on demonstrations.
He said the campaign would serve as a tribute to those he described as fallen heroes while keeping international attention focused on the protest movement.
The figures cited by Pahlavi reflect his own claims and have not been independently verified.
Appeal Directed at the United States
As part of his announcement, Pahlavi urged the United States and its government to support the Iranian people rather than engage with Iran’s current leadership.
He argued that Washington should stand alongside citizens seeking political change and avoid diplomatic engagement with what he characterized as a terrorist regime.
Demonstrations Planned Outside US Diplomatic Missions
The campaign’s launch coincides with the United States’ Independence Day on July 4.
Pahlavi said gatherings are expected to take place outside US embassies in several countries as supporters seek to amplify their message during the six-day campaign.
He also encouraged people inside Iran to participate discreetly, suggesting actions such as recording videos at gravesites, leaving written messages in public spaces, and engaging in other peaceful expressions of support while minimizing personal risk.
Strong Opposition to Recent US-Iran Agreement
Pahlavi used the announcement to reiterate his criticism of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.
He argued that any agreement with the Islamic Republic conflicts with democratic principles and the values championed by the United States and its allies.
Earlier Criticism of Diplomatic Engagement
The Crown Prince had previously condemned the memorandum in a separate post on X, describing the agreement as both morally and strategically flawed.
He also claimed that Iranian authorities carried out additional executions of protesters shortly after the agreement was signed, arguing that such developments demonstrate the risks of pursuing diplomatic arrangements with Tehran.
Pahlavi maintained that the international community should prioritize support for the Iranian people rather than strengthen relations with the country’s current leadership.
