Loreen, the Swedish singer/songwriter who recently won the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time with her song “Tattoo,” has been recognized as a pride icon at the Attitude Pride Awards 2023.
The awards ceremony, held at The Langham hotel in London, aims to honor individuals who have championed rights and challenged stigma in the face of adversity.
Loreen’s Acceptance Speech:
During the ceremony hosted by Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Loreen expressed her gratitude for being named a pride icon.
She shared that she had never felt more accepted than within the LGBT+ community, which she considers her biggest inspiration.
Emphasizing that the community is built on love, Loreen thanked everyone for the recognition.

Joining Loreen as recipients of the pride icon award were model Munroe Bergdorf, singer/songwriter Victoria Canal, and DJ Barbara Butch.
Munroe Bergdorf made history in 2022 as the first transgender woman to feature on the cover of Cosmopolitan UK.
Loreen on London’s Influence:
When asked about London’s role as the center for pop music, Loreen praised the city’s creativity and considered it the epicenter of trends.
She acknowledged that London sets the stage for what is currently trending in the music industry, predicting that whatever becomes popular in London will likely make waves internationally in the following year.
The Attitude Pride Awards also recognized Nigerian activist Joel Mordi, Deaf Identity clothing company founder Luke Christian, London firefighter Tracy Doyle, and TV personality Ryan Lanji.
LGBT+ campaigner Dr. Jo Hartland, Trans Pride Brighton organizer Sarah Savage, and podcast hosts Michael and Paul Atwal-Brice were also among the winners.
The star-studded event was attended by Steps member Ian “H” Watkins, LGBT+ campaigner Peter Tatchell, and former professional footballer-turned-presenter Alex Scott.
