Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russian missile and drone attacks have killed at least three people and injured dozens across several parts of Ukraine, as emergency crews continue responding to strikes on cities and civilian infrastructure.
In an update, Zelenskyy said emergency services were working at locations hit during attacks overnight and into the morning, with Kyiv among the areas targeted.
Kyiv Fires Brought Under Control
According to Zelenskyy, fires caused by the strikes in Kyiv were quickly extinguished, allowing emergency workers to begin clearing damage and assisting those affected.
Six people were reported injured in Kyiv and the surrounding region.
The Ukrainian president said emergency responders, police officers and medical teams were continuing to work at attack sites to assist residents and restore essential services.
Deadly Strikes Hit Kryvyi Rih and Sumy
Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih were also struck by ballistic missiles, according to Zelenskyy.
He said two people were killed and 14 others injured in Kryvyi Rih. Another person was killed in Sumy.
Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died.
He also said air raid warnings remained active across numerous regions as another wave of Russian drones was launched during the day.
More Than 1,550 Drones Launched in a Week
Zelenskyy described the latest attacks as part of an intense campaign against Ukrainian cities and communities.
He said 13 regions had come under attack during the week, with Russian forces launching more than 1,550 attack drones, almost 1,560 guided aerial bombs and 62 missiles.
According to the Ukrainian president, many of the missiles were ballistic weapons.
Ukraine Says Civilian Infrastructure Remains a Target
Zelenskyy accused Russia of repeatedly using ballistic missiles against civilian infrastructure wherever those weapons can reach.
His comments came as emergency personnel continued dealing with the aftermath of attacks in multiple locations.
The scale of the strikes has placed additional pressure on Ukraine’s air-defence network, particularly as Russian forces continue combining drones with missiles and guided bombs.
Zelenskyy Calls for More Air Defence Support
The Ukrainian president used the latest attack update to renew his appeal to international partners for additional air-defence equipment.
He argued that Ukraine’s emergency response capabilities must be matched by stronger measures to prevent missiles and drones from reaching their intended targets.
Zelenskyy specifically referred to North Korean ballistic missiles being used in attacks against Ukrainian infrastructure, saying European-made interceptors should not remain unused while people are being killed.
‘Lives Need to Be Protected’
Zelenskyy called for air-defence systems and interceptors held in storage to be deployed where they can help protect civilians.
“When North Korean ballistic missiles destroy infrastructure and claim lives here in Europe,” he said, European interceptors should not simply remain in storage.
He argued that additional military assistance could have an immediate humanitarian impact by protecting both lives and critical infrastructure.
Emergency Crews Continue the Response
The Ukrainian leader also praised personnel from the State Emergency Service, police and medical services for responding to damaged sites.
He said these teams are often the first to reach locations struck by Russian weapons, where they work to rescue victims, treat the injured and begin restoring normal conditions.
Zelenskyy concluded by thanking international partners supporting Ukraine and stressing that further assistance remains essential as Russian attacks continue.
