The Israel Defense Forces said it has eliminated Muhammad Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha, whom it identified as a Hamas company commander who took part in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
According to the IDF, Mushtaha infiltrated Israel during the assault and subsequently played a role in holding hostages captured during the attack.
IDF Links Commander to Hostage Captivity
The Israeli military alleged that Mushtaha was involved in the captivity of several hostages, including Tsachi Idan, Corporal Noa Marciano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Ori Megidish, Naama Levy and Matan Angrerst.
The statement did not provide additional details about the specific circumstances surrounding each hostage or Mushtaha’s alleged role in their captivity.
October 7 Attack Remains Central to Israeli Operations
The October 7 attack, in which Hamas-led militants infiltrated southern Israel, remains a central focus of Israel’s military campaign and intelligence operations against Hamas.
