The Israel Defense Forces said its forces carried out several security operations involving Hamas, Hezbollah and illegal outposts, according to a series of updates released on Wednesday.

The announcements included the reported elimination of a Hamas commander, the dismantling of a booby-trapped Hezbollah structure in southern Lebanon and the removal of two unauthorized outposts in the West Bank.

Hamas Commander Reportedly Killed

The IDF said Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kamil, whom it described as a Hamas commander, was eliminated. According to the military, Abu Kamil had infiltrated Israel during the October 7, 2023 attack and subsequently continued efforts to carry out attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.

The IDF further alleged that he had advanced terrorist operations throughout the war and during recent months.

The military did not provide additional details in its statement about the circumstances or location of the operation that resulted in his death.

Hezbollah Position Dismantled in Southern Lebanon

In a separate operation in southern Lebanon, Israeli soldiers dismantled what the IDF described as a Hezbollah booby-trapped structure in the Mrah el Aaqbe area.

According to the military, troops discovered RPG rockets and other weapons at the site. The operation was presented by the IDF as part of its continuing efforts to locate and remove infrastructure and weapons associated with Hezbollah.

Two Illegal Outposts Removed

Israeli security forces also dismantled two illegal outposts in Area B on the outskirts of the Qusra and Jalud areas, according to the IDF.

Equipment located at the sites was confiscated during the operation, while one Israeli was detained.

The military said its forces would continue defensive activities and patrols in the area, describing the operations as necessary to maintain security and protect the surrounding communities.

Israeli Forces Maintain Security Operations

The three announcements highlight the range of security operations being conducted by Israeli forces across areas where the military says armed groups and unauthorized activity pose security concerns.

The IDF’s statements come amid continued military and security operations involving Hamas, Hezbollah and other actors across the region
