Kaizer Chiefs Coach Muzi Maluleke Triumphs at The Europa Pro Bodybuilding Championships in London, Secures Spot at Mr. Olympia

It’s not every day that a sports coach makes waves internationally, but Muzi Maluleke, the strength and conditioning coach for Kaizer Chiefs, has done just that.

Recently, he stole the spotlight at The Europa Pro bodybuilding championships in London by clinching the men’s 212 bodybuilding open title.

A Historic Win in Bodybuilding

Maluleke’s impressive victory over the weekend has secured him a coveted spot at this year’s Mr. Olympia competition in Las Vegas next month.

His achievement is particularly noteworthy as he becomes the first South African to qualify in this category, marking a significant milestone in the country’s bodybuilding history.

Taking to Instagram, Maluleke expressed his gratitude to his coach, Federico Focherini, with a heartfelt message: “Thank you so much, Sir @federicofocherini, for being more than just a coach… uMadala Wami… this one is for you like you always say; silence and solidarity!”

Reactions and Support from the Community

Focherini, a seasoned bodybuilding master coach based in Kuwait, has received a flood of comments and reactions on Maluleke’s post.

Fans and fellow athletes have been quick to offer their congratulations and support.

Alongside Maluleke, other South African bodybuilders who competed at The Europa Pro include Carel Frederick Grobbler, who placed ninth in the men’s classic physique, and Julian Lee Ramdhari, who finished 14th.

The Legacy of The Europa Pro

The Europa Pro bodybuilding championships have long been a launching pad for many notable figures in the sport, including the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Before becoming a Hollywood icon, Schwarzenegger won seven Mr. Olympia titles between 1970 and 1980, including one in Pretoria in 1975.

Could Muzi Maluleke be the next to follow in his footsteps?

Maluleke’s Role at Kaizer Chiefs and Beyond

Currently, Maluleke is the fitness coach for the Kaizer Chiefs’ Diski Challenge team.

He has also contributed his expertise to the senior team under the guidance of coaches Arthur Zwane, Molefi Ntseki, and Cavin Johnson.

His role with the Diski Challenge team came as part of new coach Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team.

Maluleke’s extensive experience spans beyond Kaizer Chiefs.

He has worked with several PSL clubs, national teams, and various other teams including Orlando Pirates, Banyana Banyana, the South African under-17 national team, Nedbank Ke Yona team, and AmaTuks.

Academic Achievements and Qualifications

Maluleke’s credentials are equally impressive. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has over a decade of experience as a strength and conditioning coach and has served as a Sports Scientist at the University of Pretoria.

He also holds a Fitness Trainer B-License and has studied Sports Studies with Berufsakademie Sachsen/ Staatliche Studienkademie Plauen/ University of Cooperative Education.

Additionally, he has earned a Strength and Conditioning Diploma from Leipzig University and both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Sports Science from the University of Pretoria.
