Many of those players have gone on to disappoint fans and the top brass at Naturena.
Kaizer Chiefs best January signings
Here we look at the best players Kaizer Chiefs signed in January.
Reeve Frosler (January 2019)
The former Bidvest Wits fullback joined Kaizer Chiefs in January 2019 and despite issues with form and fitness remains a key member of the squad.
Frosler is yet to add to the honours won at Bidvest Wits but his energy down the flank and crossing ability make him an asset to Stuart Baxter.
At just 24-years-old Frosler still has every chance to improve and could wind up being the best player Kaizer Chiefs have bagged in January.
Daniel Akpeyi (January 2019)
With Chiefs suffering from a shortage of goalkeepers due to injury they brought in the Nigerian three years ago.
Akpeyi has gone on to establish himself as the number one goalkeeper at the club.
His performances for club have helped him earn regular Nigeria call-ups and he is currently on duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
George Maluleka (January 2014)
Despite the acrimonious end to his time at the club, the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder enjoyed several good years for Kaizer Chiefs since signing in 2014.
Maluleka pulled the strings in the Amakhosi midfield for much of the second half of the 2010s.
He was a big part of the team and his departure still leaves a sour taste in the mouths of fans.
Leonardo Castro (January 2018)
Leonardo Castro has been a divisive figure among the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.
A foreign target man was never likely to win over every single fan but Castro has had his moments in black and gold.
A threat from the spot and in the air, Castro is a player that Baxter still feels has some utility.
