Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli challenges Orlando Pirates’ lead after Jwaneng Galaxy’s home loss in CAF Champions League match at Botswana National Stadium

Jwaneng Galaxy’s head coach, Morena Ramoreboli, remains hopeful despite his team suffering a tough loss against Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.

Although Galaxy was outplayed in their home ground last Saturday, Ramoreboli issued a stern warning to the Pirates, suggesting that their current lead may not be as secure as it seems.

Pirates Take Control in the First Leg

Orlando Pirates delivered a dominant performance at the Botswana National Stadium, securing a 2-0 victory with goals from Tshegofatso Mabasa and Deon Hotto.

Their passionate display gave them the upper hand in the two-legged tie and put them closer to advancing to the Champions League group stages.

Jwaneng Galaxy fought back hard, even managing to score a goal that was ultimately disallowed.

The team’s efforts, however, fell short of recreating their success from the previous season when they had stunned Pirates with a 1-0 win before the second leg.

Ramoreboli Remains Confident

Despite the defeat, Coach Ramoreboli refused to concede that the tie was over.

He pointed out that his team had been in a similar position last season, celebrating a victory before Pirates turned the tables in the second leg.

“Last season, we were celebrating a 1-0 victory against Orlando Pirates.

Now, we’re in a different situation, but we need to find strength from this 2-0 loss at home,” Ramoreboli said.

He emphasized that a 2-0 lead in football is not insurmountable and that there’s still plenty to fight for in the second leg.

“This was just the first half, and there are 90 more minutes to play.

Anything can happen, and we’ll definitely come back stronger,” he added.

Pirates Eye Group Stage Qualification

With a 2-0 advantage heading into the return leg, Pirates are determined to secure their place in the CAF Champions League group stages.

The team is motivated to erase the memory of last season’s defeat, where they had to rely on penalties after being tied 1-1 on aggregate.

This time around, the Pirates are in a much stronger position, and they’ll be looking to avoid any slip-ups as they prepare for the second-leg showdown.

What’s Next?

The second leg promises to be an intense affair, with both teams aiming for a spot in the group stages.

While Pirates are in control, Ramoreboli’s Galaxy will be hoping for a dramatic comeback, and the stage is set for an exciting finish.
