The Israeli military says it has killed a Hamas commander linked to the October 7 attack on southern Israel and separately uncovered a cache of weapons inside a civilian residence in southern Lebanon during ongoing security operations.
The announcements were made by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in separate operational updates.
IDF Reports Killing of Hamas Nukhba Cell Commander
According to the IDF, Mohammed Emad Alrahman Abu Taima, identified as a Nukhba cell commander in Hamas’ military wing, was killed during Israeli operations.
The military alleged that Abu Taima participated in the October 7 attack by infiltrating Kibbutz Nirim and later commanded a Nukhba unit responsible for ambushes targeting Israeli troops.
The IDF also claimed he played a role in maintaining the operational readiness of Hamas fighters and recruiting additional members into the group’s military ranks.
The military did not provide details regarding when or where the operation that killed Abu Taima took place.
Weapons Discovered Inside Civilian Home, IDF Says
In a separate statement, the Israeli military said troops operating within the security zone near the southern Lebanese village of Tallousa discovered weapons stored inside a civilian residence.
According to the IDF, soldiers found a Hezbollah flag alongside military equipment inside a bedroom of the home.
The military said the recovered items included explosive devices, anti-tank missile launchers and missiles, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) rounds, protective vests and helmets.
Additional Arms Storage Sites Identified
The IDF said troops also located additional weapons storage facilities elsewhere in Tallousa.
According to the military, those sites contained RPG launchers, ammunition and small arms.
Israeli forces have continued conducting operations along the Lebanese border, saying they are targeting weapons infrastructure and armed groups operating in the area.
Military Claims Not Independently Verified
The IDF’s statements regarding the killing of the Hamas commander and the discovery of weapons have not been independently verified.
Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah had publicly commented on the Israeli claims at the time of publication.
