A former Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officer has resigned after an internal investigation concluded that she engaged in an inappropriate relationship with another officer while on duty, including encounters that reportedly took place inside a middle school where she was assigned as a school resource officer.

According to an Office of Professional Accountability report, former officer Lisa Vidrios admitted to violating departmental policies by meeting with a fellow officer during work hours and using department time for personal activities.

The investigation ultimately resulted in disciplinary action and her resignation.

Allegations Emerged After Husband Discovered Evidence

The investigation began after Vidrios’ husband, Angel Vidrios, who also serves with the Metro Nashville Police Department, reported concerns about her conduct.

Investigators said he became suspicious after noticing unusual location data through the family’s Life360 tracking application.

His concerns intensified after he allegedly discovered a lengthy WhatsApp conversation between his wife and another officer, along with videos documenting their meetings.

The evidence was turned over to the department, prompting a formal internal investigation.

Report Details Multiple Meetings During Working Hours

The Office of Professional Accountability found that the relationship began around April 2024 and involved repeated meetings while both officers were scheduled to work.

Investigators concluded that Vidrios acknowledged meeting the unidentified SWAT officer several times during duty hours.

The report states that some encounters occurred inside her office at Madison Middle School, while additional meetings reportedly took place inside a police vehicle and in other locations away from their assigned duties.

Text messages reviewed during the investigation allegedly showed the officers coordinating meetings during meal breaks, overtime assignments, and other periods while they remained on the clock.

School Incident Raises Serious Concerns

One of the most serious findings involved incidents inside Madison Middle School while the building was occupied.

According to the investigative report, recordings recovered during the inquiry showed the officers inside the school during school hours, with voices from staff members reportedly audible outside the office.

Investigators stated that children were present elsewhere in the building at the time.

The findings prompted significant concern because the location served as Vidrios’ assigned workplace as a school resource officer.

Department Finds Policy Violations

Following the investigation, both officers were removed from active police access and decommissioned on May 26, 2025.

Vidrios later entered into a pre-investigative settlement concerning violations of Metro Nashville Police Department policies.

Officials determined that she had violated standards related to conduct unbecoming a department employee and the requirement to devote working hours exclusively to official duties.

She accepted a 30-day suspension before resigning from the department.

Fellow Officer Remains Under Review

The unidentified SWAT officer, a veteran of the department with 18 years of service assigned to the Tactical Operations Section, was not interviewed during the investigation because he was on Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave and later received an injured-on-duty pension in February 2026.

Despite the lack of an interview, investigators concluded that documentary evidence—including communications and other materials—provided what they described as overwhelming evidence of his participation.

The report notes that should he return to employment with the Metro Nashville Police Department, he will be subject to questioning regarding the allegations.

Officer Previously Celebrated During Academy Graduation

Before the misconduct investigation, Vidrios had built a notable career. She served nine years in the U.S. Marine Corps before relocating with her family from San Diego to Tennessee in 2022.

She and her husband made history as the first married couple to graduate together from the Metro Nashville Police Training Academy, with Vidrios selected to represent her graduating class during the ceremony.

In remarks at the time, she spoke about relocating with her husband and their three children and expressed enthusiasm about serving the Nashville community.

Internal Investigation Concludes With Resignation

The case concluded with Vidrios leaving the department after accepting disciplinary measures outlined in the settlement agreement.

While the second officer has not faced an interview because of his employment status, the Office of Professional Accountability has indicated that the investigation remains supported by substantial evidence gathered during the inquiry, leaving open the possibility of additional questioning if he returns to active service.
