Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, a former contestant of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has addressed the criticism she received regarding her remarks about her fellow housemate Adekunle’s mother.
During the ‘Level Up’ reunion show on Day 5, which aired on Monday night, Doyin referred to Adekunle as “a trifling human being and a very sorry excuse of a man,” and stated that he owed his mother an apology for disregarding the values she instilled in him.
Doyin criticized Adekunle for trying to turn the other housemates against her while they were in the Big Brother House.
She expressed her disappointment with his actions, emphasizing that it was acceptable for him not to like her but unfair to spread negative judgments about her to others.
Doyin revealed that she had watched numerous clips of Adekunle speaking ill of her, which left her feeling heartbroken.
She concluded by branding him a “trifling human being” and urging him to feel ashamed of himself for betraying his mother’s teachings.
Following her statement, there was a significant reaction on social media, with many viewers calling out Doyin for her remarks.
In response to the backlash, Doyin took to her Twitter account on Tuesday to clarify her intentions and address those who misinterpreted her statement.
She clarified that she never insulted Adekunle’s mother and explained that her words meant he owed his mom an apology for disregarding the values she instilled in him.
She urged those who misunderstood her to improve their understanding of English and suggested it would be a good opportunity for them to go back to school.
Doyin’s clarification aimed to provide a better understanding of her intended meaning and to address the criticism she had received.
It remains to be seen how the public will respond to her response and whether it will quell the ongoing controversy surrounding her statements.
