Firerose, the former wife of country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has spoken publicly about their troubled marriage, describing their relationship as a period of emotional turmoil and accusing him of verbal and emotional abuse.
The 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodge, was married to the 65-year-old country star for seven months before their relationship ended.
She has now issued a warning to his current girlfriend, actress Elizabeth Hurley, claiming that narcissists never change.
Speaking in a new interview with The Sun, Firerose said she would not wish her experience with Billy Ray on anyone and described their relationship as being like a warzone.
Singer Claims She Lived in Fear of Her Former Husband’s Reactions
Firerose alleged that she constantly felt as though she was walking on eggshells during their marriage.
She claimed that even minor actions could provoke angry reactions from the singer, who she accused of shouting insults and verbally abusing her.
She also alleged that Billy Ray restricted her ability to maintain friendships and did not want her to have access to a car.
According to Firerose, his behaviour would sometimes change dramatically, with periods of affection following episodes of anger.
She claimed that she tried to adjust her behaviour and mould herself into the person she believed he wanted her to be in an attempt to improve their relationship.
Firerose Issues Warning to Elizabeth Hurley
The singer’s latest comments also addressed Billy Ray’s relationship with Elizabeth Hurley, 61.
Last month, the actress sparked speculation that the couple might be engaged after sharing an Instagram photograph showing a large diamond ring on her ring finger.
Responding to the developments, Firerose expressed concern about Hurley’s relationship with her former husband and warned that she believed people with narcissistic behaviour do not change.
She said she hoped anyone caught in a similar relationship could find a way to protect themselves and avoid experiencing what she described as an abusive situation.

Relationship Deteriorated After Their 2023 Wedding
Firerose and Billy Ray initially became friends more than a decade ago while working around the Disney television series Hannah Montana, which starred his daughter Miley Cyrus.
At the time, Billy Ray was married to his first wife, Tish Cyrus.
The pair later reconnected during the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually developing a romantic relationship.
Firerose moved to Billy Ray’s farm in 2020, and she previously described their early relationship as positive.
However, she claimed that things changed after they married in 2023.
Their marriage lasted just seven months before their separation in May 2024.
Billy Ray and Firerose Exchanged Abuse Allegations During Divorce
The breakdown of their marriage resulted in a bitter and highly publicised separation, with both parties accusing each other of verbal and emotional abuse.
Billy Ray strongly denied Firerose’s allegations, maintaining that he was the victim of verbal abuse rather than the perpetrator.
He filed for divorce in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct.
The country singer subsequently sought a restraining order to prevent the unauthorised use of his credit cards and financial accounts.
Their divorce was finalised in August 2024, with court documents indicating that Firerose received no financial settlement from her former husband.
Following the conclusion of the proceedings, Billy Ray’s legal representatives said he was relieved to have the matter behind him.
Billy Ray Describes Divorce as a Nightmare
In a statement released through his lawyers during the dispute, Billy Ray described the situation as an alleged scam and accused those involved of placing him in danger.
He said the experience had been the most unbelievable situation he had ever encountered and expressed regret over how their relationship and separation had unfolded.
The singer also described the situation as particularly painful because it involved matters of the heart, adding that his experience had shown him that love could make people blind to what was happening around them.
