Social media influencer Okoro Blessing, widely known as Blessing CEO, has been brought before a Lagos Special Offences Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations involving a N69.15 million fraud scheme tied to property rental claims.

The case, heard in Lagos on Tuesday, adds another layer to the ongoing legal troubles facing the influencer as prosecutors pursue multiple financial crime allegations against her.

EFCC Accuses Influencer of False Property Claim in Lekki Transaction

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission told the court that Blessing CEO allegedly obtained N69.15 million from Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited by falsely presenting herself as the owner of a property in Lekki, Lagos.

According to prosecutors, the disputed property is located at No. 1 Tunbosun Osobu Street, where she allegedly claimed to have secured a five-year lease agreement with the medical firm.

The agency further alleged that the funds were later diverted for personal use rather than the intended business arrangement.

Charges Detail Alleged Fraud and Theft Offences

Court documents read in the Special Offences Court before Justice R.A. Oshodi outlined two separate counts against the defendant.

The first count accuses Okoro Blessing Nkiruka of obtaining money under false pretences in violation of Nigeria’s Advance Fee Fraud law, while the second count alleges dishonest conversion of funds belonging to the health clinic.

Prosecutors claim the actions constitute both fraud and theft under Lagos State criminal statutes, with the alleged offences occurring on or about March 21, 2025.

Defence Challenges Service While Court Orders Arraignment to Proceed

During proceedings, prosecution counsel C.C. Okezie urged the court to proceed with arraignment, insisting that the defendant had been properly served with the charges.

However, defence counsel Nkama Nneka argued that service had only recently been completed, raising procedural concerns.

Despite this objection, Justice R.A. Oshodi ruled that the arraignment should continue, after which the charges were formally read to the defendant in open court.

Blessing CEO Pleads Not Guilty as Bail and Custody Issues Arise

Following the reading of the charges, Blessing CEO entered a plea of not guilty, setting the stage for a full trial.

The prosecution subsequently requested that she be remanded in custody and suggested her continued detention ahead of another pending case scheduled for hearing at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.

The court agreed to remand her in EFCC custody and fixed July 16, 2026, for hearing of her bail application and commencement of trial proceedings.

Separate Court Grants Bail in Related N36 Million Fraud Case

In a parallel development on the same day, Justice Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi granted Blessing CEO bail in a separate N36 million fraud case.

The court set bail at N10 million and required two sureties, one of whom must be a family member, along with extensive documentation including identification records, tax clearance certificates, and financial verification documents.

That earlier case also involves allegations of obtaining money by false pretence and theft, further intensifying the legal scrutiny surrounding the influencer.

Multiple Fraud Cases Deepen Legal Challenges

With two separate fraud-related cases now active in different courts, Blessing CEO faces a widening legal battle spanning multiple allegations of financial misconduct.

The unfolding proceedings highlight increasing enforcement actions by anti-graft authorities as they pursue high-profile individuals accused of economic crimes in Lagos and beyond.
