…By Judah Olanisebee for TDPel Media. Foo Fighters Announce UK Summer Tour in 2024, Including Cardiff Date
The Foo Fighters, led by Dave Grohl, have officially confirmed their upcoming tour in the UK for the summer of 2024.
The announcement came shortly after their surprise appearance at Glastonbury Festival, where they performed under the name The Churn-ups.
During their set, they revealed their plans to tour the UK in 2024, and now the dates have been released.
This tour will be significant for the band as it will be their first in the UK without their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March 2022 at the age of 50.
In September of the same year, the band held a memorial concert in his honor, drawing a crowd of 90,000 fans.
Taking to Twitter, the Foo Fighters shared the tour dates, which include a performance at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on June 25, 2024, just days after Taylor Swift’s show.
They will also be playing in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow. Fans can purchase tickets for the tour.
While the band last performed in Cardiff at the Motorpoint Arena in 2007, they have since gained tremendous popularity.
There have been persistent rumors about the band’s upcoming tour, with many fans eagerly hoping for a Cardiff date.
Fans expressed their excitement in response to the band’s announcement, with one person saying, “Please please come to Cardiff, fantastic venue in the city center,” and another highlighting the excellence of the Principality Stadium.
Dan Minty, who runs the fan guide Minty’s Gig Guide and is actively involved in Cardiff’s music scene, has been advocating for the Foo Fighters to perform at the Principality Stadium.
He has been posting open letters to Dave Grohl and the band, urging them to include Cardiff in their tour.
In one of his recent letters, he wrote, “Dear Foo Fighters, please announce a Welsh date for your upcoming 2024 tour (OR WE RIOT!).
Time and time again. Our love, Cariad mawr. The Population of Wales.”
The Foo Fighters’ performance at Glastonbury was truly remarkable, and Dave Grohl even joined Guns N’ Roses on guitar and played drums with The Pretenders during the festival weekend.
