Rivers State Lawmaker Condemns Sheikh Gumi’s Comments on Minister Wike
Hon. Adoki Tonye Smart Criticizes Gumi’s Statements, Upholds Nyesom Wike’s Leadership
In a strong rebuke of Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, Hon. Adoki Tonye Smart, a Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Port Harcourt Constituency 2, expressed his disapproval of Gumi’s comments directed at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Smart emphasized that Nyesom Wike is firmly in control of the FCT, and the days of sponsored banditry, criminal activities, and kidnapping in the territory are over.
Warning Against Incendiary Remarks
Smart issued a stern warning to Sheikh Gumi and others, urging them to refrain from making inciting and disparaging statements against Wike and southerners.
He conveyed his concerns about certain individuals from the northern region who appear to believe that the entire country belongs to them.
Rejecting Gumi’s Demands
The lawmaker expressed his frustration with Gumi’s audacity in demanding the dismissal of the FCT minister, particularly considering that Gumi’s home state contributes little to the nation.
Smart pointed out that Gumi’s actions were misguided, as Wike’s role as the Minister of FCT is legitimate. He also criticized Gumi’s response to Wike’s reception of the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria.
Highlighting Regional Contributions
Smart emphasized that the FCT is built and sustained through the resources generated from the Niger Delta region.
He highlighted the unfairness of enjoying the benefits of the region’s wealth while denying them representation as the FCT Minister. He concluded by expressing his disappointment with Gumi’s remarks and stated that it is time to put an end to such frustrations.
