What’s Done in Darkness…” Collin Gosselin’s Chilling Warning Leaves Kate Bracing for Explosive Memoir

Former reality television personality Collin Gosselin has intensified his long-running public dispute with his mother, Kate Gosselin, just months before the release of a memoir in which he promises to reveal details about his childhood and family life.

The 22-year-old, who rose to fame on Jon & Kate Plus 8, recently shared a social media post that many interpreted as a direct message to his estranged mother, reigniting attention surrounding one of reality television’s most controversial families.

Social Media Post Fuels Anticipation

Collin reposted an article discussing reports that Kate Gosselin was allegedly distressed over the upcoming publication of his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.

In the shared image, Kate’s face was blurred, while Collin added a message from a supporter that read: “What’s done in darkness will always come to light.”

The post has further heightened interest in the memoir, which is scheduled for release on October 13 through Grand Central Publishing.

Representatives for Kate Gosselin have not publicly responded to the latest social media activity.

Memoir Set to Revisit Troubled Childhood

According to promotional details, the 304-page book will recount Collin’s experiences growing up in the public eye and include allegations of abuse against his mother.

Among the claims expected to appear are accusations that he was physically mistreated, restrained with zip ties, confined to a monitored basement room, and placed in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Behavioral Health System, where he remained for nearly two years between 2016 and 2018.

Kate Gosselin has previously denied Collin’s allegations.

Family Rift Dates Back Years

Sources close to the situation claim Kate was unaware the memoir was being written and was caught off guard by news of its publication.

The strained relationship between mother and son stretches back years.

Following Kate and Jon Gosselin’s highly publicized divorce in 2009, she retained primary custody of the couple’s eight children while continuing the family’s reality television career with Kate Plus 8.

Collin has repeatedly stated that he has had no contact with his mother since he was admitted to a behavioral health facility as a teenager.

Military Career Ends in Disappointment

Beyond recounting his childhood, Collin has also spoken publicly about the collapse of his dream to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He has accused Kate of damaging his military prospects after she publicly discussed what she described as his psychiatric diagnoses and behavioral history shortly before he was dismissed from Marine training because of issues related to his enlistment records.

Collin disputes those claims and has consistently denied suffering from several mental health conditions that Kate has previously referenced publicly.

Complicated Relationships Across the Gosselin Family

Collin’s family relationships remain fractured years after the end of the reality series.

His father, Jon Gosselin, was awarded full custody of Collin in 2018 after previously gaining custody of daughter Hannah.

Collin has maintained a relationship with both his father and Hannah but has acknowledged being estranged from his remaining siblings, including fellow sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Joel and Leah, as well as twin sisters Madelyn and Cara.

The family’s television journey began with Jon & Kate Plus 8, which aired on TLC between 2007 and 2010 before continuing under a revised format following the couple’s divorce.

Looking Ahead to New Projects

While preparing for the release of his memoir, Collin is also returning to television.
He is expected to appear in the upcoming fifth season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, several years after Kate herself briefly competed on the reality competition series before withdrawing because of a neck injury.

Away from the spotlight, Collin recently shared a more personal update with followers, announcing that his father Jon and stepmother Stephanie Lebo had adopted a two-month-old Malchaweenie puppy named Theo from Big Love Animal Rescue.

With his memoir set to hit bookshelves later this year, Collin’s latest public comments suggest that the long-running and deeply personal conflict within the Gosselin family is far from over.
