Tom Brady has found himself at the centre of another live television mishap after accidentally uttering an expletive during a Fox Sports broadcast on Sunday.
The former NFL quarterback was participating in a family-friendly pregame quiz against fellow football legend Drew Brees when he mistakenly gave an incorrect answer and responded with an audible “Oh s***”.
Brady appeared to realise his mistake almost immediately, placing his hand over his mouth as he attempted to recover from the slip.
The incident was witnessed by millions of viewers watching the broadcast.
Fox Colleagues React to the On-Air Slip
Host Curt Menefee quickly stepped in to acknowledge the incident, telling Brady that his colleagues had heard the remark but would let him off.
“We let you get away with one, by the way, Tom. We heard you. That’s okay, alright,” Menefee said.
Michael Strahan also joined the conversation, joking: “Live TV! You know it’s live!”
Menefee responded by reassuring viewers that Brady was still adjusting to the demands of broadcasting, adding: “He’s learning, he’s learning.”
The studio cameras subsequently captured Strahan and Terry Bradshaw laughing at the incident, while Howie Long appeared to struggle to contain his reaction.
September Broadcast Featured Another Swearing Incident
Sunday’s incident was not the first time Brady has accidentally used an expletive during a Fox Sports broadcast this season.
On September 20, the former New England Patriots quarterback made a similar remark during a live game after watching a replay of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffering an elbow injury.
Brady was heard saying “Oh s***” before quickly apologising and adding: “Excuse me. I was not expecting to see that.”
The incident attracted positive reactions from some fans, who praised the former quarterback for displaying an unfiltered emotional response during the broadcast.
Third Potential Incident Involved Eagles and Giants
Another possible incident occurred earlier this month during the Philadelphia Eagles’ showdown with the New York Giants.
However, the audio from that broadcast was unclear, leaving viewers uncertain about whether Brady had actually used an expletive.
The potential slip happened while he was discussing Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his ability to escape approaching defenders.
Brady said: “Whenever I watch him play, it’s like the D-line’s almost there to get him, and then, nope, he just squirts away.”
He then appeared to begin saying, “And they can’t f***ing…” before seemingly stopping himself and changing his wording.
Brady has not publicly commented on the incident.
Brady Continues $375m Fox Contract
The former quarterback is currently in the third year of his 10-year broadcasting agreement with Fox Sports, reportedly worth $375 million.
Despite the repeated on-air slip-ups, Brady has not faced any disciplinary action from the network over his previous use of profanity during live broadcasts.
