Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife, Tana, enjoyed a weekend together in Mexico City as they attended the Formula One Grand Prix.

The couple were spotted arriving hand-in-hand at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez ahead of Sunday’s race, putting on an affectionate display as they made their way through the paddock.

The 59-year-old chef and his 52-year-old wife attended Saturday’s qualifying session before returning to the circuit on Sunday for the main event.

Ramsay is a longtime Formula One enthusiast.

He and Tana previously took their children to watch the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, last month.

The couple share six children: Megan, 28, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, seven, and Jesse, two.

Hamilton Secures First Pole Position Since 2023

Away from the celebrity appearances, Lewis Hamilton delivered a strong qualifying performance, securing his 105th career pole position and his first since 2023.

The achievement also made the British driver the oldest to secure a pole position since Mario Andretti accomplished the feat aged 42 in 1982.

Hamilton’s performance came after a difficult debut season with Ferrari last year.

His current campaign has been more successful, including his maiden victory for the Italian team in Barcelona in June.

Despite Hamilton’s impressive qualifying result, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli remains a favourite to secure the world championship at the age of 20.

Antonelli qualified fourth for the Mexican Grand Prix, behind Hamilton, George Russell and Charles Leclerc.

He needs to finish at least ninth in the race to guarantee the championship with four rounds remaining.

Hamilton also addressed questions about how long he intends to continue racing, saying he does not want to remain in the sport if his performance declines.

“Time will tell whether I’m here in the 2030s. I never want to overstay my welcome in the sense of not having the performance,” he said.

He added that he believed he had already challenged expectations following assumptions that his performance had declined during the previous season.

“Everyone assumed that last year and I have proved everyone wrong. I’ll continue to try to do so,” Hamilton said.

Haas Drops Ocon From Mexican Grand Prix Weekend

Haas also attracted attention before qualifying after Esteban Ocon was unexpectedly removed from its driver line-up for the Mexican Grand Prix weekend.

The Frenchman’s absence came amid uncertainty surrounding his future with the American team, which has not extended his contract into next season.

Haas did not provide a detailed explanation for the decision.

However, Ocon had been involved in a tense radio exchange with his race engineer, Laura Mueller, during Friday’s second practice session.

Japanese driver Ryo Hirokawa, 32, replaced Ocon for the weekend and qualified 19th.

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu addressed the situation but offered little information about the circumstances surrounding the driver’s exclusion.

“I can’t tell you much but I can tell you he’s not ill,” Komatsu said.

“The only thing I can say is we are focused on what’s in front of us.”

Alonso Suffers Mechanical Problem During Qualifying

Fernando Alonso also endured a difficult qualifying session after his Aston Martin stopped in the stadium section of the circuit during Q1.

The incident brought out a red flag, interrupting the session as the car was recovered.

Alonso was seen waving his hands in frustration after the breakdown, having appeared to be in contention for a stronger qualifying result.

A water pressure problem was identified as the cause of the mechanical failure.

Piastri Struggles as Norris Qualifies Sixth

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri also experienced a disappointing afternoon after failing to progress beyond Q2.

The Australian qualified 13th, finishing nearly a second behind reigning world champion and teammate Lando Norris at that stage of the session.

Norris eventually secured sixth place on the starting grid for the Mexican Grand Prix.
