In February 2021, Tiger Woods faced a life-changing moment.
A serious car accident in Los Angeles left him with severe injuries that cast doubt on whether he’d ever return to golf.
Fast forward to now, and Woods is back on the green, but a recent photo reveals the lasting impact of that fateful crash.
On February 23, 2021, Woods was en route from the luxurious Terranea Resort to Rolling Hills Country Club, where he was set to film for GolfTV. Driving a rented Genesis GV80, Woods left the resort early in the morning.
A TV crew member from ‘Grown-ish,’ who was at the resort, reported that Woods accelerated quickly, nearly colliding with another vehicle. Moments later, a security camera recorded him driving normally.
However, just a short time later, Woods lost control on a downhill stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard. His SUV veered off the road, crashed through a sign, and rolled several hundred feet.
The accident was severe enough that police commented on his remarkable survival.
A Glimpse of the Recovery
Recently, Woods was spotted on the golf course without his usual leg sleeve, showcasing the scar from his accident.
A photo shared on Instagram by the Blake Bunders Golf page shows him standing on the grass, with a visible scar on his right leg—the one injured in the crash.
The image, captioned with a playful nod to his presence at Oakland Hills, highlights how far Woods has come despite the severity of his injuries.
Current Status and Challenges
Woods, now 48, has been making a comeback, but the road hasn’t been easy.
He recently competed in The Open but didn’t make the cut.
Similar results followed in the US Open and PGA Championship earlier this year, and he struggled in The Masters.
His last major win was back in 2019 when he claimed The Masters title.
Despite these challenges, Woods’ return to the sport remains a testament to his resilience and determination.
