Sequoia Capital is undertaking a major organisational restructuring that will see the venture capital firm close its London office and discontinue two of its investment programmes.
The Menlo Park, California-based firm confirmed that it will continue investing in European businesses despite ending its physical presence in London.
Its decision forms part of a broader effort to reorganise its operations and investment structure.
Arc Accelerator and Scouts Programmes to End
As part of the changes, Sequoia will shut down its Arc batch accelerator and Scouts programmes.
The firm did not indicate that its withdrawal from these initiatives would affect its commitment to investing in Europe.
The closure of the London office will also result in several employees leaving the company.
Investment Teams to Operate Under One Structure
Sequoia is also combining its operating and investment teams as part of the restructuring.
The firm will eliminate its existing “Early & Growth” divisions and replace them with a single team working under a shared mission.
The new structure is intended to create a more seamless experience for founders as their companies progress through different stages of development.
AI and Emerging Industries Become Key Priorities
Following the reorganisation, Sequoia plans to concentrate its investment activities on innovation across artificial intelligence, space, biology and reindustrialisation.
The changes mark a shift in the firm’s organisational structure, geographical presence and approach to supporting companies at different stages of growth.
