Hull City have been hit by a second car crash involving one of their players within the space of three weeks, after a Mercedes was found overturned on a residential road close to the club’s training ground.

The incident happened on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, the same road where Hull midfielder Sorba Thomas was involved in a separate crash last month.

Police confirmed that emergency services attended the latest incident and that nobody was injured.

Mercedes Found Lying on Its Side

A Mercedes was photographed on its side following the single-vehicle collision near Hull City’s training base.

The identity of the player who was driving has not been officially confirmed. However, Lucas Gourna-Douath, who joined Hull during the summer, appeared alongside the vehicle in a photograph posted on Instagram on Wednesday.

The circumstances that led to the Mercedes leaving the road remain unclear.

Police Confirm No Injuries

Humberside Police said officers and emergency services were called to Millhouse Woods Lane at approximately 8.30am on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision.

Police confirmed that nobody was injured in the incident.

The statement provided no further details about the driver or the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Gourna-Douath Recently Received the Mercedes

Gourna-Douath joined the newly promoted Premier League side from RB Salzburg during the summer in a reported £3 million transfer.

The midfielder had also recently taken delivery of a new Mercedes. A social media post from the supplier described the vehicle as a 2026 GLC 53 and thanked Gourna-Douath for his purchase.

His appearance in a photograph with the overturned Mercedes has added to speculation over whether he was involved, although the player’s identity has not been officially established.

Crash Follows Sorba Thomas Incident

The latest incident comes just three weeks after another Hull City player, Sorba Thomas, was involved in a dramatic road accident while travelling to training.

Thomas’s Land Rover Defender overturned on Millhouse Woods Lane, leaving the vehicle on its roof with broken windows. The 27-year-old escaped without serious injury.

The crash attracted attention from residents in the area, with locals reportedly describing the narrow road as one where vehicles typically travel at relatively low speeds of around 15mph.

Thomas Returned to Action Quickly

Despite the severity of the damage to his vehicle, Thomas was able to continue playing for Hull City almost immediately after the accident.

He came off the bench the following day during Hull’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The back-to-back incidents involving Hull players have now placed renewed attention on the road close to the club’s training ground, although there is no indication from police that the two collisions are connected.
