At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, a poignant and emotional tribute took center stage.
The audience witnessed a moving moment as they chanted the names of the 13 service members who tragically lost their lives in Afghanistan.
This powerful display of respect and remembrance deeply resonated throughout the convention hall.
Gold Star families, who had lost their loved ones in the Afghan withdrawal, received a heartfelt standing ovation as they addressed the crowd.
Their powerful speeches followed a gut-wrenching video, which detailed the heartbreaking moment they learned of their losses and the subsequent events, including President Biden’s controversial watch-checking incident during the return of the fallen service members’ bodies.
The emotional atmosphere was palpable as Christy Shamblin, the mother-in-law of the late Sgt. Nicole Ghee, shared her perspective.
“While Joe Biden has failed to acknowledge their sacrifice, Donald Trump spent six hours with us in Bedminster,” Shamblin said.
She appreciated Trump’s empathetic approach, which she felt offered solace during her grief.
“He allowed us to grieve and remember our heroes, making us feel understood,” she added.
As Herman Lopez, father of the late Hunter Lopez, read aloud the names of the fallen soldiers, the crowd echoed each name in unison.
Lopez criticized Biden’s handling of the situation, expressing his disappointment with the administration’s lack of accountability. “He let my son down. He let the 13 down. He let the 45 wounded down.
He let those 174 civilians down. He let our country down,” Lopez asserted.
A Call for Change
In their exclusive interview with DailyMail.com at the Fiserv Forum, the Gold Star families voiced their support for Trump.
Darin Hoover, who lost his son Taylor Hoover, expressed a desire to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
“We need to ensure what happened to our kids never happens again,” Hoover said, advocating for Trump’s reelection.
Taylor’s sister, Coral Doolittle, emphasized their support for Trump due to his alignment with their values and beliefs.
“He speaks the truth,” she said. Kelly Barnett, Taylor’s mother, added, “We need someone who cares about veterans and military families, and we believe Trump will deliver.”
Unmet Expectations and Broken Promises
Alicia Lopez, mother of Marine Cpl. Hunter Lopez, shared her frustration with President Biden’s lack of response to their outreach efforts.
“In almost three years, President Biden has not returned our calls or met with us,” she revealed.
In contrast, she noted that Trump was the only one who reached out to check on their well-being during their time of mourning.
Herman Lopez echoed these sentiments, stating that the current administration had lost their trust.
“We need a leader we can have confidence in,” he concluded, reflecting the desire for a change in leadership.
