A dramatic scene unfolded recently when a father involved in a high-speed chase was seen saying a tearful goodbye to his family before surrendering to the police.
The unidentified man led Los Angeles police on a wild ride, speeding at 60-70 mph during rush hour.
The chase stretched for miles on a Wednesday afternoon, as officers pursued him through the city.
Eventually, the chase ended when the man found himself trapped at a dead end on Shedd Terrace and Wrightcrest Drive in Culver City.
As the car came to a halt, he, his partner, and their young baby exited the vehicle.
The man was seen embracing his family multiple times.
He then fell to his knees and surrendered to the authorities. The driver, who sported braided ponytails, and his partner, dressed in a jean jacket and black pants, were both taken into custody, while the baby was handed over to officers, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Start of the Chase
The pursuit began in Hawthorne, where the man was allegedly involved in a robbery, as reported by KABC.
He drove dangerously, weaving through traffic and narrowly avoiding other vehicles.
Final Moments
As the suspect reached Culver City, he continued driving at speeds over 50 mph with the baby and woman in the backseat.
Video footage from the end of the chase shows the driver pulling into a cul-de-sac, where multiple officers had him surrounded.
In the video, he raises his arms through the window, wipes tears from his face, and exchanges the baby with the woman in the backseat.
He then steps out of the car, speaks with officers, and hugs the woman before saying his final goodbyes.
Aftermath
Footage also captured officers comforting the young child while the adults were being detained.
