President Tinubu Greenlights ₦35,000 Monthly Wage Increase for Federal Civil Servants

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted his approval for a substantial wage increase for Federal civil servants. The announcement, outlined in a memo from the Presidency, comes with effect from September 1, 2023, and was officially signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, Ekpo U. O. Nta.

Implementation Details

The memo specifies the particulars of the wage award, noting that the increased wage of ₦35,000.00 per month is applicable to all Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies funded by the treasury. This financial allocation will be facilitated directly from the national treasury.

For Federal Government agencies that do not rely on treasury funding, they are also directed to implement this pay increase, but they will fund it from their internally generated resources.

This move stands as a significant development for Federal civil servants, guaranteeing improved financial compensation commencing in September 2023.
