Call for Compensation, Apology, and Punishment

Human rights activist Dabiraoluwa Adeyinka has asserted that the current administration should compensate survivors of the Lekki Toll Gate shooting. She also insisted that the government should apologize to the victims, as well as punish the perpetrators of the shooting.

Demand for Answers

Adeyinka stated that justice would not be served until answers were provided as to who ordered the shooting on that day. She noted that the new regime should be able to provide answers to these questions.

Unanswered Questions

Adeyinka questioned who ordered the shooting and who is responsible for the deaths of the citizens who were killed. She also raised concerns about the 103 bodies that are reportedly awaiting mass burial.

Recommendations of the Panel

Adeyinka pointed out that the panel that investigated the shooting recommended that all the survivors should be compensated. She also noted that the governor’s outreach to the victims was not in line with the panel’s recommendations.

Call for Closure

Adeyinka stated that the victims and their families will continue to remember the shooting until justice is served. She expressed hope that the new administration will attend to this matter and provide closure for those affected.
